I keep running from the bird app and have to rebuild my networks, and I hate it. I'm not a very patriotic person. But I am vindictive. Buy Canadian. He/him

Statement from the president of the Parliamentary Press Gallery, on Prime Minister Mark Carney’s trip to Egypt:

“It is unprecedented that Canadian media be entirely excluded from a Canadian prime minister’s foreign trip.”

I think this kind of thing - people being unable to distinguish between what a *character* is saying and what the *game* is saying - really is a problem of literacy. But, like, Peter Thiel has a philosophy degree, his problem isn't illiteracy, his problem is he *wants* to reach bad conclusions.

Never read the comments, I know, but I'm amazed at how poor a lot of peoples' reading comprehension is. These comments are about Ghost of Tsushima. What they're complaining about here is *the point the story is making*. The whole game is about the protaganist rejecting his uncle's idea of honour!
A commenter says:
"So the idea of the first game is that it's dishonourable to fight people outside of an upfront duel. This is despite the Mongols having superior numbers and no issue with fighting dirty.

Fighting back in a smart way isn't something NPCs should be reprimanding me for."

A reply from another user adds:
"I always found it quite annoying that the first one would force you into making stealthy kills, then give you a moralising lecture about how dishonourable stealthy kills are"

Education is great and as a general rule people do become more literate and better at critical thinking as they get more of it, but I also think a lot of the things people say would be fixed by making tech VCs take more English classes are caused by motivated reasoning, not a lack of literacy.

Are you saying Mr. Michel-Therrien-Loving-Drafted-Guy-Who-Asked-Not-To-Be-Drafted-Because-Of-Crime maybe didn't foster the best culture?

Thanksgiving in Canada has nothing to do with Columbus!

We are a colonial country with a million things to atone for but Thanksgiving is not one of them.

Our Thanksgiving is timed with the harvest and it's literally just "Be grateful for harvest"

US Imperialism has brain rotted too many of you.

This is why the costumes are honestly brilliant. Ngo, who has never said a truthful thing in his entire life (remember the concrete milkshake?) now has to convince people inflatable Sesame Street and animal costumes are violent terrorists.

Sometimes you just need an image too silly to demonize.

Honestly, if he spends the rest of his life genuinely believing he isn't getting into heaven, and sees that as a negative, that does make me feel kinda good. Gotta take the little wins.

Fascinated how the guy who made superstars of Matt Walsh, Candace Owens, Jordan Peterson, and Michael Knowles thought that unfettered racism and every phobia in existence wouldn't eventually include anti-semitism

I really enjoyed this Coyne column. Said tech oligarchs need to way more attentive to the way public opinion is shifting against them. Coyne is just about the furthest thing from a "soak the rich" socialist, and yet....

I have more thougths than I can fit here about how to try and dig out of our over extension of urban boundaries. But densifying everywhere including suburbs is a big one. I know in Ottawa, Barrhaven is actually moving in that direction. But without good transit, it'll suck hard.

I personally see housing and transportation as very much linked.

Building more housing in desirable central neighbourhoods close to jobs, transit, and biking infrastructure allows more people to live car-free or car-light.

Pushing housing out to the suburbs does the opposite!

Uneducated guess? We are right next to the States, and their quick adoption and expansion of cars influenced things here too.

Well my idea also requires the City to not be an absolute pushover.

I'm conceptually fine with sending to every complaint address a note that makes clear to homeowners "If your variance is illegal and we roll up to do work, you're paying for the removal". And then obviously work on enforcing post-2007.
