a corp has some protection for the people in that corp due to how the legal system works, but an individual running an instance is NOT a corporation, but is beholden to the same laws (COPPA, DMCA, etc)

Props to instance owners, because wow I would never fuckin EVER expose myself to that liability

Did a lot of reading about Mastodon yesterday, particular the legal ins and outs (at least from a NA perspective)

I still think its a mistake to allow instance admins to see as much as they can, but in a bizarre way they're almost MORE accountable than a typical corp social media site is.
