Oh come on, I’d never worship a golden calf. Not even one that shiny… and lithe…

and calflike…

(sweating anxiously)

Oh eff me, “As Above So Below” I’d put a smidge above “Gonjiam,” good call. I haven’t seen some of the others you mentioned. 👀

Heard this was a sleeper with some weird fic elements, into it, let’s do it, I’m ready.

And I’m not about to say the ending is as good as “Spoorloos,” but it *functions* like that one in how when it occurs, you suddenly look back and think “of course” and “oh no” simultaneously. Damn good stuff.
horrorfilms101.bsky.social
Oh 100%. It might be the best one. It’s sci-fi too, and one of the best of those.

The use of an immolated lamb in the opening act is especially cool to me— it profanes the Christian faith that guides these men but also points up that Jesus was not a symbolic sacrifice, he very much died on the cross. That tangibility ties into the film’s interest in living by faith vs. by sight.

Hah! What a punchline.

Damn strong. I liked the focus on exhaustive, rigorous skepticism (echoes of Blatty’s “Exorcist”). The final act has some predictable tropes (exorcism interruptus! labyrinthine caverns!), but doesn’t belabor either. And yeah, there’s a stink of weird fic here (complimentary).

This one has really stayed with me. Its uncommon structure and overall premise makes it feel like a true child of weird fiction. Hope you enjoy the rewatch!

As a cap and sub editor, I can’t thank Britt Hayes enough for citing the limitations of AI. I lose my mind when people think AI is an adequate replacement an industry of service dedicated to the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. They deserve much better than what AI alone can offer.
and captioners, who write the subtitles for movies and TV shows, and whose work goes beyond merely re-formatting a screenplay. In both instances, the AI-produced work is often so flawed that it requires human editing and ultimately doesn't save time or money. AI is also incapable of describing sound effects and music, a vital part of captioning for the hearing impaired. Captions like "[Eerie whooshing]" or "[Leaves crunching ominously]" are the result of human creativity, which AI cannot replicate.

Thank you so much for spotlighting caption and subtitle editing. AI can be a useful tool in a workflow (most of all when time crunch is an issue), but its utility is very hampered, and no file should go out without full human review / revision.

BREAKING: Major clashes in southeast Chicago this pm.

DHS agents who crashed a car had eggs thrown at them. According to ABC7, they then fired pepper balls at local residents. It’s now a scene of flying rocks & tear gas.

Chicago was never a war zone. But Trump’s militia is turning it into one.

Pretty cool how the only way to go viral on BS is to have the dumbest take imaginable.

Rewatching the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies, one thing I wish slashers would bring back is the lead verbally taking down the killer. Emphasizing that for all the people they murdered and any power they have, they're still a pathetic asshole. Wes Craven really had a knack for that in his works.

You’d be right to do so. 👍🏻
