The time someone told me I didn’t have what it takes to pursue writing and should stop.

That was bad advice.
what is your least favorite piece of writing advice and why? 👀

I’m not interested in fan edits in general, but if some hero could leave “Running Man” the same except for these 40 seconds, I’d be very grateful.
So I watched the RUNNING MAN 2025 deleted scenes, and they took out a brief bridge section that would have made the ending (one of my few quibbles) play about a hundred times smoother than it did. Just 40 seconds of transition, that’s all.

Editing IS filmmaking.

Every week there’s some fresh bit of news that reconfirms the link between Trump and an underage trafficking ring is a straight line, and we’re all supposed to just nod and keep doing our email jobs.

“________ is the same guy in every movie.”

Acting is first and foremost about creating a sense of authenticity, about giving the audience permission to “buy in.”

Bruce Willis was great because he could make you believe his Bruce Willisy character was actually going through that shit.

Haven't watched 60 Minutes in a long time but I made sure to watch the one they didn't want me to see.

The kind of stuff that makes me wish I could believe in karma.

Just beat it. I get some of the criticisms, but it lands a pretty bold ending— not that I *cared* (this is “Metroid,” I’m here for exploration, less so story), but points for going there. Not as good as the first two “Prime” games, but like it more than “Corruption”— a good game IMO!

Time to start assembling the Best First Time Watches of 2025 list, regret to say that “Merry Kissmas” did not make the cut.

This has always been a Bluesky-first campaign. But as of today, we will no longer be using Twitter. At all.

And I'm calling on other candidates to follow suit.

Around halfway, Rice just doing story the old classic way, one brick on top of the other. The idea of an apocalypse in relation to an outlying community seems so obvious in retrospect, and the book has a pleasurable “here’s what that would look like” matter-of-factness.
Don’t remember how this book landed on the ol’ radar, but already enjoying the austere clarity of its prose.

Like, the plot of these films is “what if a colonizer possessed a native persons body, ingratiated himself into their society, and was better at being a native than any of them, and improved their society saved them all and became a real native?” HOW DO PEOPLE NOT SEE THAT AS A THE MASSIVE YIKES??

Kinda thinking that despite the MCU seeming to lose some of its audience / mojo, every Marvel flick that’s been a big hit since “Endgame” is one that promised audiences dramatic crossovers (“Multiverse,” “No Way Home,” “D&W”), and that could mean that “Doomsday” will be a big hit.

Well this was delightful as all fuck. I’d only seen Greer Garson play serious, she was just as good as a physical comedian. Flick is refreshingly unproblematic. It’s screwball / melodrama that doesn’t reinvent the formula, it’s just really goddamn good at the formula.
n(e)w: “Julia Misbehaves”

Why yes, I am ready for the gayest romantic comedy of the year.
