DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS deserves more love. Sure, it's a tad incompetent due to a tumultuous production that led to swapping directors, reshoots, and bizarre diversions (Caroline Munroe shows up for one scene! And sings!) but it's fun, sleazy and mean. Like NEW YORK RIPPER in a Santa hat. #filmsky

I started my career as a critic reviewing a lot of direct-to-video stuff and student films that got mailed to us, etc

trust me
nothing that sees a theatrical release is gonna deserve that Worst title

The CBS 60 Minutes Doc confirms what we knew: The U.S. is currently using our tax dollars to imprison brown people with no criminal record in torture camps overseas.

It’s no wonder administration shill Bari Weiss pulled this off the air: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjY7...

All I'm saying is that AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH made us understand why Rob Stark got Red Wedding'd on a visceral level. Right? #filmsky

Rewatching LETHAL WEAPON for the first time since Shane Black pointed how much he cribbed from DIRTY HARRY and I feel like someone finally realizing those are shadows on the cave wall. They even use the same suicide attempt! #filmsky

GREMLINS: the kind of movie I watch and feel uncomfortable with how much it explains me. Outside of cinematic tastes and a predilection for off-kilter Christmas fare, is this genesis of my adoration of ugly-cute furry creatures and my fascination with depressive, cute brunettes with bangs? #filmsky

Haven't watched 60 Minutes in a long time but I made sure to watch the one they didn't want me to see.

The kind of stuff that makes me wish I could believe in karma.

Coming to realize that even when I appreciate the writing and sentiment, I have almost no use for zero star reviews.

Don't think I'd give them zero stars ifI were rating them though. Because I respect the craft and effort in the creating.

I rectified an embarrassing mistake I've had the shame of living with for nearly a decade...

I finally watched THE NICE GUYS in theater. It is the zenith of Shane Black's career. Every joke/gag hit the audience like a hammer. If we never get a sequel, at least this one is so rewatchable. #filmsky

I know a lot of people want to argue about what the greatest horror film of the 80s is, and there's a lot of merit to those arguments, but here's the thing

Say what you will about the AVATAR film but James Cameron's commitment to spectacle, emotional earnestness, and "I hope this doesn't awaken something within me" aliens is unparalleled. #filmsky

The Shop Around the Corner (1940) is a god damn delight and makes its later adaptation, You've Got Mail (1998) way more interesting because they gender bent the personalities of the main characters. Stewart's softer masculinity is replaced by Hanks's prescient Bezos-esque version. Fascinating!

Had some filmmaker friends ask me to do a table read as the "narrator" reading the stage directions and for my thoughts/reaction to the script. Now, maybe I did terribly and they're just nice, but I think it went really well. Feels great to be trusted and sought after on someone else's project.

My "junkyard dog" (a nickname he has more than earned) heard my wife and I talking about how cute my other dogs are and he comes running up, expectantly, as if he needs to hear how cute he is...

Then proceeds to audibly fart, turn around, and sniff it.

Real cute, bud.

It’s of no surprise that I loved DUST BUNNY. I’ve long since argued that Bryan Fuller is the most cinematic show runner so it’s of no surprise that he KILLED it in his directorial debut. The cinematography, set design, music and Mads of it all are just superlative. Go see it!!! #filmsky

Man… I really love James Gunn’s SUPERMAN. Usually when a superhero film is described as tapping into that “Saturday morning cartoon” vibe, it carries an implicit compromise on character, drama, theme and execution.

Not here.

Everything just works perfectly. One of the best of the genre. #filmsky
