My gentle advice for aspiring film critics anywhere besides NYC/LA honestly:
My gentle advice for aspiring film critics in Australia: honey, this isn't a real job here. I've been doing this for 20 years: last year I earned exactly minimum wage for mostly foreign clients, so 1/5th of that goes to the tax office. You needing another job to support this doesn't reflect on you 💜

This is how it should be
Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

A little talked about symptom of ADHD is Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD).

This is an intense feeling that everyone hates you.

RSD comes in waves, and does not require events to trigger it. You can be walking along with friends having a great time and suddenly you feel an outsider.

Brett Ratner outed Eliot Page as gay (before Page came out as a trans man,” is accused by six women of sexual assault and harrassment, and in 2018 lost all his deals with WB. Now Trump and his fellow rapists and rape apologists are demanding Ratner be fully funded to make movies.
its so weird how everyone connected with trump has SA allegations in their history

tentin quarantino is probably the least self-aware person on the planet

he's talented but he also "pays homage" so much that I wonder if he's ever had an original idea in his life

also he's a zionist so nah

Only 1000 so i can reach my goal
Can you chip in 200 if you have any spare & please match the last donation I’m in bad situation right now we are still fixing our place :(((((
My dearest friend set up the weekly and monthly donation options so that we can stay alive after a tent was destroyed just 100 meters away from us last night. The sand covered our faces while we were still alive.

I’m deeply depressed and can’t keep begging one by one for help anymore.

The Once Upon A Time in Hollywood novelisation proved that Tarantino doesn't even understand his own characters and I will side eye everyone who gushed over that piece of shit book until the end of time.
He’s spectacularly lacking in self-awareness

I am become Charlie Brown, the destroyer of worlds
Charlie Brown was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by Scheoeder, Lucy, Linus, and Peppermint Patty. Snoopy signed it: and Snoopy’s name was good upon ’Change, for anything he chose to put his hand to.
All of these worlds are yours except Europa, Charlie Brown

THIS.
Realizing that there are people who comprehend morality vs people who just fall in line with societal norms for morality was uhhhh a thing
One of the biggest shocks of my adult life was realizing there's a hidden division in society between people who think certain acts - cruelty, torture, murder - are inherently wrong, versus the majority of people who think there are no wrong actions, just incorrect targets.

the craziest one is probably still that Charlie Day saw my denim chicken and went "wow you're really good!"

the one that means the most is my (artist) dad seeing a drawing I did and saying "I know I told you that you didn't have what it took to be an artist as a teen but you proved me wrong"
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

we do christmas eve low country boil :D
it fascinates me how most everyone in the U.S. does turkey for Thanksgiving, but we are all over the map as to what we eat for Christmas (as is proper for a hugely diverse nation).

I come from a Christmas prime rib roast family, myself.
I also use the bacon method. Although turkey is Christmas dinner where I come from.
