I had to explain this very slowly to a family member not too long ago RE soldiers allowing Trump to use them as shock troopers. Yes, even the kids who signed up to get college degrees are still part of the system and their choice to remain speaks poorly on them.

Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.

One Day Later

I was gonna spend the evening playing Ghost of Yotei and maybe having a drink, but apparently I have to be ready to answer the phone from 8 am until 4pm tomorrow and then go to work at a moment's notice on my day off.

I fucking hate being in the tech industry.

I have been informed, at 7.45pm on a Saturday night, that I am expected to be on call Monday because it is a 'skeleton crew' due to the holiday. Meaning I, once again, am expected to be standby for any issues that might come up on what should otherwise be my day off.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

And yes in Cop Chases there would be a random chance that any of your friends come intervene on your behalf, and your enemies try to get you caught, and yes you can accidentally or deliberately get another racer caught in your place. Sometimes friends WILL get caught on purpose to get you off.

After every race you can either stop and talk or drive off (think SMT) which has different reactions from each personality type of racer, so you can game their personality to bring them up from mere person you beat in a race to friendly rival to trusted companion.

Yes some of the cops you get into chases with are also racers on their off days, and yes if you beat them some will be more likely to come after you on their next shift.

Yes every character has a friendship bar, and you can befriend them all, or make them all your enemies.

Equip a collection of strange local brand-name air fresheners that all provide small but fun bonuses to various stats, and can be combined into new scents for synergy bonuses, but the more you have at once the more likely you are to get into a Cop Chase because they're illegal (obstructs your view).

I wanna go to the Bomb Diggity Gas and Gulp to swap rumors (increase enemy spawns temporarily) with the cute mechanic/racer and buy a coffee (+2 focus, -2 handling).

We need more CaRPGs. No I don't wanna tune my car with thousands of little variables to do ghost races with randos online, I just wanna equip a series of increasingly powerful parts while partaking in random race-battles with a cast of interesting and fundamentally flawed rivals.
