I'd really appreciate if writers these days took a look at their characters doing therapyspeak and whether that's appropriate for their work and their world.

By "therapyspeak" I mean speaking like this: "This is the emotion I'm feeling, and feeling that emotion makes me want to act in a way"

"The inventor rarely knows what the invention is for" was a permanent mantra when I was doing SEO/marcomm in the late 00s.

I built my career betting on that, and was successful until I lost my naivety and changed careers.

A huge part of this as I see it is that they believe

A) the tools they built for people to self-service mod/censor the site are up to that task (and)

B) that people will actually use those tools the way the devs who built them intended.

Both of these assumptions are accidents every time.
