WEGO Niagara Parks Commission (Ontario, Canada) is rather small. They have only one and a half routes, only take prepurchased cards (no payment on board), and run frequent services during the day only. Connects resorts, attractions like the power station, the GO/VIA train station, and key points.
I had a classmate at Uni who did a PhD on demand responsive transit (the academic term for microtransit) it becomes less cost efficient than fixed route public transport very quickly. Even a few riders tips the balance to where an hourly or half hourly bus is a more consistent, reliable, and cheaper
The buses had placards and/or destination boards for it too!
Is this the only time WCE will run a weekend service in thirty years!?
Which WeGo is this?
Sorry but there is also WeGo, the tourist bus service of the Niagara Parks Commission in Niagara Falls.
Accenture. Same company that messed up the PRESTO system in Toronto for so long and so much money.
Fun hidden fact: the first four notes of Oh Canada play at the end of all federal Government of Canada ads and videos, after the β€œA message from the Government of Canada”.
We may be reserved but our national identity is a big deal. We even recruited one of our most famous comedians for an ad:

Likely Fixes (in order of problem)
- Better timetabling, stepping back crews (streetcars don’t wait for driver breaks)
- Active TSP that preempts turn phases
- Double point switches and better switch control system with alignment relayed to cab via TSP transponders
- Low fence/hedge (0.5m) along RoW
A couple common issues:
- Terminal times and capacity
- Conservative/inoperative TSP that doesn’t let transit preempt other movements like left turn signals
- Standing slow order for all switches
- Stop and check for all switches
- Slow driving because of risks people in walking in or across RoW.

Good News! The Finch West LRT has successfully completed its revenue service demonstration. The line will be handed over to the TTC by November 3rd and will open shortly after. news.ontario.ca/en/release/1...

@moretransitso.bsky.social can we promote this through our own networks too. A high performing streetcar network is critical to the larger GGH transportation network: faster connections to regional trains (GO) and subways, better access to major destinations like Chinatown, Exhibition, and beaches.
Would love to see it but I have my doubts.
Has the premier spoken to the TTC who says that speed bulbs are not safe for roads with buses? Is he proposing a massive investment to replace big buses with more frequent vans to placate the TTC?
I will see to it that double point switches, switch control, and active TSP with transit preemption get mentioned sufficiently.
Let me know if I can contribute to the report as well. I have pictures of great examples for Toronto to follow, like Sydney’s George Street which is what King & Queen need
My understanding is that design was originally constructed for use with locomotive hauled trains but has come in handy with EMUs for double berthing so has been maintained/modified over time. Dutch use for through stations. Sydney Central and Melbourne Southern Cross have it for terminal tracks.

Interesting… they’re still building the full 300m platform capable of handling GO trains…
At least it seems from a quick reading of the document that platforms will be built at lower level for GO Trains too so they could be made to stop at a later date when a better government and Metrolinx management is in charge.
Any update on Finch-Kennedy and King-Liberty stations? MX still lists.
So apparently 15 minute GO service is no longer happening any time soon. At least on the non-Lakeshore lines (Northern Corridors). #Toronto #Ontario is being let down by the province and Metrolinx.
Wild how GO RER/Expansion has gone from so amazing to so basic in so few years.
😭
No worries: I found it. "...this service change is required to maintain the 15-minute (or better) service frequency commitment made by Metrolinx for the SmartTrack Program, which
can no longer be maintained by GO service."

The Swiss IC trains are pushpull even on intercity services generally.
Plus their older generation DPZ Zurich SBahn trains which have a cab car, coaches, and locomotive made to operate in a set.
Finally, there is a terminal station layout common in Europe, UK, and Australia where you have three parallel tracks at stations with the middle track not serving platforms but with mid-platform crossovers so you can do shunting moves more easily.
Pictures show it at Sydney Central on platforms 1-4
One blessing in Toronto is that many of our rail corridors have lots of room in them, meaning that adding tracks is a matter of grading and then actually laying said tracks plus expanding overpasses/underpasses/stations as required. Maybe replacing embankments with retaining walls for more space.
I think it already was. Story:
I was walking through downtown Toronto before pride but the streets were already fenced off for the parade. @tps.ca Constable moved the barricade so I an everyone else could cross Dundas.
I was in DC in January and Capitol Police were no help when streets were closed
