RIP Diane Keaton
My favourite picture of her where everyone else is giving it their best Blue Steel & she looks like she’s just wandered in off the street looking super cool.
She was allowed to wear her own clothes & her wonderful personality shines out.
What a unique talent & human being.

There are some comments in the Reddit thread that are worth reading if you set the filter to Best and scroll down a bit. There are a few experienced textile arts people discussing if she needed to add another source of yarn to make the hat work.

I've seen the video and it's actually delightful. She's a young woman with crafting skills who did something unusual with her own hair (which will grow back). I don't know whether she carded the cut hair before spinning, but still, she did a good job overall.

Joshua Charow released a fantastic short video about Carmen Cicero the same day as this post.

Holy shit! Cicero was the source of this meme from a few days ago, too!

We spent yesterday complaining about our knees, then watched this video about Carmen Cicero, a 99-year-old painter who is still producing huge paintings while living in a walk-up loft in NYC. (Check out the staircase at 16:40.)

I really gave this the business, and so can you!

A lot of the questions are VERY "hey, person who *loves* AI, how can we, a government who *loves* AI, make sure companies who *also love* AI come to Canada to do trickledown economics?"

I believe that you, and a lot of other Americans in these comments, never pronounced it this way. Like you say, it makes no sense whatsoever. But it's something that seems to have seeped into American reference sources and now has some usage. It certainly isn't British (or Canadian).

"...they watched in astonishment a brown wormlike creature greedily munching through green clumps of algae as if more than 130 years hadn’t passed since its last meal. Equally oblivious, a host of life – water fleas, worms, plankton – danced and spun around it."

I write full time largely because of one thread about getting high with the Irish president. As cringe as it is to admit, my entire life has been massively enhanced by Twitter and ketamine over precisely the same time that those two things have proven less beneficial for Elon Musk.

I’m more of a carnivore than my husband, but I also adore vegan food. He favours meat as a condiment rather than steaks and whole chicken breasts. We’ve figured out that when I make dahl or mujadara, there should be a little ground beef on the side or mixed in so that it feels satisfying to him.

512 St Clair: No service between Gunns Loop at St Clair Ave West and St Clair West Station while we fix a mechanical problem. Shuttle buses are on the way.

Hey, TTC people in Toronto. A 512 eastbound streetcar has broken down at St. Clair and Dufferin. Hopefully shuttle buses arrive soon.

Given this situation, can the two W kids work together? Get a few objects from the list, stand up in front of the class, and have Kid 1 "loan" the object to Kid 2.

Nonetheless, while I haven't tried scary baby's trick for keeping a plant warm, it sounds worth a go. Good luck!

3: Temperatures and frost: Honestly, I find that it needs to get pretty bitter in Toronto to affect my tomatoes. I have harvested them as late as the last week of November. Note: this was before I learned about tip 1 or 2, so they weren't very tasty once they turned red indoors, but they survived.
marylacroix.bsky.social
BTW, you don't need to fuss about indoor ripening. I just leave my breakers on the countertop. No windowsill, no nearby bananas, no brown paper bags. These late tomatoes have tasted as good as August tomatoes. This guy's post explains in detail how picking and ripening breakers works:
Myths About Ripening Tomatoes
Are vine ripened tomatoes better? Can you ripen them inside and still get good taste? What do you do with green tomatoes?

2: Once a tomato has turned partially pink, pick it! These "breaker" tomatoes no longer need to be connected to the stem to ripen AND if you leave them on the plant and you get some heavy fall rain, you might get blander tomatoes as they pick up excess water, or they may even split.
