This was the entire crux of my argument against my old department requiring applicants to take the GRE. They were not delighted to have a poor person yell at them about it!

...but then they removed it for future cohorts 💅

That is SO MUCH, AAAAAAHHHHHH.

If you still have any patience, a lot of Canadian unis have fee waivers/discounts, especially for mature students. You can ask the admissions department whether they have A Process and hopefully they will be helpful about it!

$250, though, Christ Jesus

It's time to tap the "Phrenology Disguised As AI Is Still Fucken Racist" sign again.
Researchers are now saying that AI can find correlations between facial characteristics and success on the job.

The Economist says that corporations would have a “strong incentive” to deploy this technology when looking at applicants.

What language would have such a word? Is it Italian? Dzongkha?

The sweater *I* made my friend's baby has been chosen for their family Christmas card and I do not believe English has a word that adequately conveys how thrilled I am about it

Was sincerely congratulated by one of my undergraduate colleagues for knowing who Jeff Buckley is and had to stop myself from explaining the whole concept of being alive in the 90s so if you need me I'll just be over here turning into a pile of dust and pogs

I ADORE procedural memory...it's really fascinating how physical learning/knowing/doing stuff is. I do music and dementia research and it is always amazing to see how strongly certain skills/patterns/behaviours get encoded.

A lovely one is holding a baby - people remember how to do that real well!
