The newest Crosscutting initiative within the GEWEX Hydroclimatology Panel is the River Experiment, or RivEx, led by a team determined to standardize the comparison of river models. Read up on RivEx in the latest issue of the GEWEX Quarterly, starting on page 5, at www.gewex.org/gewex-conten....

Climate.gov was one of world's leading sources of information on climate change.

The Trump admin has now fired all of its staff and it will now likely shut down (or maybe turned into a Trump-friendly site pushing falsehoods about climate) www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Thousands of scientists, academics, physicians and researchers have responded to President Trump’s executive order about “restoring a gold standard for science” saying it would destroy scientific independence.

Last day at the GISS building (Wed. May 28th). 🥲

A typical case of killing the messenger instead of fixing the problem. The international community will support GFDL as it is the leading institution on climate research.

I hope this report of UNESCO will lead to a better understanding by the society of the risk posed and trigger more research to better quantify the expected changes in water resources.

This will be an important conference!

History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for.

How are you going to fly your bird without NOAA providing the observations and forecasts ? These people in charge have no idea what it takes to keep aviation (among other things !) functioning.

Thanks for the clarification

I think I saw your little bird when I landed in SYD yesterday 😀

If we don't stand up for science then truth has no meaning anymore !

That was a productive meeting!

An important seminar for the Land surface modelling community!

The latest GEWEX E-News is now available at gewexorg.optin.com/newsletter/a...

This edition includes the latest calls for papers, position announcements, meeting details and other news of interest.

Welcome to BlueSky! GEWEX will hopefully also help society adapt to the water resources of a warmer climate by coordinating the scientific community.

Made me think why not develop some type of "Turing tests" for geophysical models (AI, parsimoneous or physical based)? There are a number of perturbations (like 2xCO2) where we know what the characteristics of the response should be on physical arguments.

Yes produce more high quality knowledge which will not be contradicted by facts down the road 😄

Should climate science not take pride in having provided society with very similar results for the last 30 years ? So it might be good enough to propose projections every 10 years, when our understanding has indeed progressed. Earth observation needs to be intensified to inform society and science.

It is going to be an issue that we cannot have the same numbers for the global water cycle : total precipitation, water discharge from the continents, total water mass, ... Our observing system is not to the level needed for these variables which are so critical for managing our resources!

Thanks for posting also on Blusky ...so I can finally ditch the network of that mad man !
