When I was an undergrad, a number of friends became Born Again. I was the only person they didn’t try to convert. A couple of years before several cults had tried to recruit me whenever I was in the city centre.
Much easier to buy decent ice cream :-))
That seems remarkably cheap for decent ice cream.
I made ice cream a couple of times over 30 years ago but without an ice cream maker.
I want a freezer - but fear I’d be tempted to buy ice cream - & eat it. It’s been so long since I had ice cream that I can’t remember when it was. Heaven is good apple pie & excellent vanilla ice cream. Cinnamon bun ice cream sounds very tempting.

Our Ouseburn Open Studios is on the last weekend of November this year.
It’s a rare opportunity to see inside the studios & to buy direct from the artists and designers. I will have paintings, handmade limited edition prints & handmade books for sale.
I discovered via Hugh Bonneville reading Sherlock Holmes Short Stories podcast that has been another of my getting to sleep podcasts.
Best of all, usually, is Shedunnit by Caroline Crampton - talking about classic detective stories. I do listen again when awake 😁
Discovered on Thursday morning that BBC Sounds has a podcast of Julie Andrews reading Jane Austen’s Stories (starting with Pride & Prejudice). Ideal lulling me to sleep stories read by the right voice.
I hope you’re better soon!
Same generation as my grandparents in Liverpool but I have no photos of them looking so 1920s. What a lovely photo to have!
I am lost if I can’t find the right audiobook or radio or podcast series. I need hours of listening material & they need to be familiar in some way, not have sudden noises, screams or crying in them. Humorous science radio series can be good.
Extraordinary! I could understand if she were pouring paint or washing out cement or plaster buckets (I’ve seen that from a distance in past years) but a small amount of coffee?!
My devices that use fingerprints never recognise my fingerprints.
I must admit that I enjoy videos of US Americans who, due to their myth that the British have only bland food, put a tablespoon of English mustard on their food and find out the hard way that it’s so much hotter than their mustard.
I do get so fed up with the ‘British don’t use spices’ thing.

I have read a lot of Dickens, partly because people started giving me Dickens novels when I was 9, partly because it connected with post-grad research. I don’t think he was a nice man.
Totally agree. I loathed the unrelenting gloom of Hardy when I was at school.
I’m relieved to hear it 😁
