asking to see the vinegar list at the french fry restaurant
Every single person in Britain: "the chippy" or, if we're being fancy, "the chip shop"

The New York Times: "the french fry restaurant"
new favourite New York Times term for a British thing just dropped

Do you remember the olden days when people made a sandwich but felt no need to cut it in half and show you the cross section .

You could buy this service for someone you love as a gift.

Is there someone in your life who'd love their manuscript developed by a professional author and editor? DM if so. (Happy to create a printable voucher to put in a card for Christmas Day).

You'd only need pay the booking in amount.
1) Price. People do not have big amounts to spend on developing their work even if they want to. This service is £450 paid in two amounts of £225. They know they are getting massive value for money. And are happy with the depth and quality of my notes and feedback.

I'd never seen the B&W film Ship of Fools before tonight, when I ..found it quite fascinating. Would gladly watch Simone Signoret alone for hours. Oskar Werner too.

The Oryx are kicking off because I miscounted pairs of horns, it's absolute bedlam here, whinnying and snorting and glaring and stamping their tiny little feet like flamenco dancers.
Mea Culpa.
This year at Wrathington Towers, we're changing Christmas traditions! No reindeer... so we have 4 lovely Oryx to prance about in the skies, and leave dung on your roof tiles. Please don't offer them carrots or mince pies. Keep well away from their horns. Do not mention Rudolph.

Wednesday, a day of the week, derives from Old English 'Wōdnesdæg' & literally means 'slippers at work, replacing duvet with a thicker one'.

Discovering that Muriel Spark adopted Patricia Highsmith's cat, Spider, is all I needed to make a dull day better.
Some trivia: The cat Spark’s holding on the cover was named Spider; she’d adopted him from Patricia Highsmith. Spider was a fan of fireworks - he found that their booms tended to stun the nearby lizards, making them easy for him to hunt down and kill. I imagine Spark admired this display of cunning…
