I plan to post at least one of my photos a day here on Bluesky. I design each of my photos using recent research into the benefits to mental health of looking at plants & patterns in nature.
Making my collections relaxes my noisy autistic+ADHD brain & they'll relax yours by looking at them here:
Small but also BIG news from the garden step bird café: in the last 24 hrs my garden robin, the one who came in the house to tell me the mealworms had run out, has found a mate! I usually silence my films but you can hear how completely delighted I am. He was showing her around! Ngl bit tearful rn❤️❤️

Word has spread on the long tailed tit grapevine that I run a very good bird café. This family group (likely brothers & sisters from a 2025 brood) came to dine. I’m passing on these 5 adorable tiny birbs (colloquial name: flying teaspoons) to you bc we all need a bit of joy rn🪶:

I just went outside as the sun went down & the sky was watercolour-washed with pink, long tailed tits were flitting about silhouetted against it,a dunnock was singing & far above a flock of redwings flew towards their roost. It was beautiful & I captured a very few seconds of it (sorry it’s not more):

Birdsong’s been shown to be more effective than meditation apps at alleviating stress, perhaps bc ‘prey’ birds only sing when there are no large predators nearby who might also snack on a human. Pause on this feathered boiled egg’s song if your brain feels like there’s a sabre-toothed wotsit nearby:

A small film of spring flowers from my garden because we recover from stress 60% more quickly when we look at plants & if we find them beautiful our brains release dopamine, lifting mood. Pause for a few moments to help your synaptic soup 🌿🧠:

If you're feeling a bit droopy (pfff, same) this new single from Bruno Mars is properly joyful-I've been dancing round the kitchen like a middle aged wally to it & it really cheered me up:

One reason gardening for wildlife is worth it-a goldfinch feeding on teasels seeds earlier this afternoon. I let teasels self seed in my garden as bumblebees & goldfinches are big fans:

If your autistic burnout’s so bad you struggle to get to the co-op for milk then it’s ok to rest. I’m getting better at being kind to myself about this-I have a dynamic disability-today it’s disabling. Meanwhile here’s what I taught my illustration class to draw on Saturday, incl the first snowdrops🌿
