That's one way for a baseball game to end.

It’s odd that the game in LA started in the middle of the afternoon there, and the game in Chicago isn’t starting until 8:00 there, when they could easily have had each game start at 6:00 or 7:00 local time.

If a four-pitch walk being worth two bases instead of one feels tortured, I imagine walks just aren’t something you view as a problem (which is fine, reasonable people can disagree).
jasonlukehart.bsky.social
I think a four-pitch walk could be two bases, or could be declined, and then if a second walk is drawn, THAT counts for two bases.

That would include unintentional four-pitch walks too, unavoidably, but I’d be okay with that. Throw strikes or pay the price.

That’s what the cowards get for not pitching to Ohtani.

I think just to get through the 8th, when the heart of the order will come to the plate.

Supermodel legend Elle Macpherson can seem deeply unattractive. It took time for me to appreciate her profound, plainspoken good looks, writes Jon Fasman.
Supermodel Elle Macpherson may not seem attractive, but it turns out actually is. You just have to look closely.

In what circle is Johnny Cash considered “deeply uncool”? You must hang out with huge dipshits, which would explain why you’re writing for the Wall Street Journal.

Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

Kershaw is also now tied with Justin Verlander for the most career postseason home runs allowed, with 32. Pettitte is the only other guy within ten of those two.

You can tell the baseball writers who get paid by MLB or its television partners by who’s dragging Kershaw for being bigot and pitching terribly and who’s ignoring the bigotry and expressing sadness about the terrible pitching.

With two more rainbows tonight, Clayton Kershaw tied the MLB record for most career postseason home runs allowed.

t1. Kershaw & Justin Verlander 32
3. Andy Pettitte 31
t4. Tom Glavine & Catfish Hunter 21

In the final month of his career, it’s nice to see Kershaw turn back the clock and pitch poorly in the postseason like he did when he was young.

A joyous Yankee Death Day to all those who celebrate!

I have seen Greg Maddox in place that should know better.

Yeah, expecting it is sort of what I meant about being prepared on an intellectual level.

For me, with the Guardians, I always expect it, but find that it feels miserable anyway.

I feel for Mariners fans. I assume they were very prepared for this on an intellectual level, but that doesn’t actually help with the sting very much.

I like your attitude, but unfortunately you are wrong. The Yankees aren't even going to lose this series. I looked it up.
jasonlukehart.bsky.social
The blame for this comeback by the Yankees lies with everyone laughing about how they were dead earlier tonight.

I think Smokey and the Bandit is a pretty hilarious pick to co-head that article, like they were making Citizen Kane II: Rosebud's Revenge with the sequels.
jasonlukehart.bsky.social
Jaws is, by any reasonable measure, one of the greatest movies ever made. None of the sequels are good.

I understand it might not be possible to announce a start time for Tigers/Mariners, but someone could at least announce "It won't be any earlier than _______."
