Big news: I’m working on my next book. It’s about the “Frat Pack” era of Hollywood comedies.

I’ve dreamed of writing a book about movies for years and years and now I finally get to do it. I’m so excited.

Netflix’s new movie The Rip is so dimly lit that the only place it *might* look good is in an extremely well-maintained theater, which is unfortunate because it is Netflix’s new movie The Rip.

The behind the scenes featurettes were arguably the best parts of DVD releases back in the day. I did enjoy watching Empire of Dreams on the bonus disc of the Star Wars Trilogy box set

Case in point: Netflix has a Kpop Demon Hunters yule log. And they have music videos. No making-of.

I love making-of documentaries! As a kid, I sat miserably through "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" because I was outvoted on which movie to watch.

The group then wanted to watch the bonus features, which the idiots thought were boring, but it showed me that the leads actually are funny.

Agreed. The Avatar Making Of gave me a whole new appreciation of a franchise I usually make fun of a little bit. It’s nice to be reminded that the people making these things really really care.

@mattsinger.bsky.social I just spent a wonderful week on the Hundreds of Beavers BluRay which features THREE quite fun commentaries and a separate disk of extras including the full movie with special effects screens Kingdom of Apes style. Then my One Battle 4K arrived with…nothing extra.

“Dad can we watch something on Netflix?”

“Sure. Let’s look for something in the Kids & Family section. Hmm ... oh this looks interesting. Cats!”

I don’t rewatch LOTR every year, but I do rewatch the exhaustive documentaries for each movie every year. “Bigatures” FTW. tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Bigatures

Really feeling the energy of this image.
I saw Rise of Skywalker four times in theaters. Different friends would invite me to see it with them. The third time, I think I really locked into Babu Frick and I almost convinced myself it was good.

What is the movie you have seen the most times that you would say you do NOT like?

Today is the sixth anniversary of the eighth anniversary of the time I dressed as my favorite movie character, John Contraband from the movie Contraband, and smuggled in contraband candy to see the hit movie Contraband starring Mark Wahlberg.
