George was just trying to get to work.

ICE pepper-sprayed him, dragged him from his car, locked him in a detention center, and placed him on suicide watch. He even missed his young daughter’s birthday in the process.

Yeah, despite wearing an N95, using an antihistamine nasal spray, and toting around a portable air purifier, I came back from my conference sick. (Seems to be random crud versus COVID, though.) The disease burden is just too damn high, and being one masked person in a group of 1,000+ isn't enough.

Sigh, hate that I have to say this, but make sure you review your chart every time you visit a doctor. Make sure that what they put in there is actually what you told them and/or what happened. Signed, a person dealing with a miscoded claim because a doctor made shit up.

If you work for an org that sponsors events and you have some measure of control over where that money goes, let event organizers know what's important to you and withhold money accordingly. And if you're a member of a trade group or association, well, they work for YOU. Remind them.

Going to a ton of conferences and events between October and November, and although I know some of these locations get set years in advance, if you're someone who organizes this shit, you CANNOT avoid state politics anymore, especially if you want to protect your trans and pregnant attendees.

Neither the federal government nor the state of Michigan has a budget yet. The fiscal year starts Oct. 1 for both.
