If it stays still I will sew it, knit it, or paint it. Just for starters. I am fighting with all I have to see democracy last a few more years here. In the PNW. I am Me, wife, mom, grandma. The older I get, the liberaler I be.

So much of this never makes the “news”.
There’s not enough attention being paid to the fact that ICE deported a man in a persistent vegetative state

Or the fact that he was perfectly healthy when he was detained, and his family have no idea what was done to him to cause such a severe decline

He died shortly after being deported to Cuba
In Berlin the bike lanes along major thoroughfares share the sidewalk. Clearly marked once you recognize the system . And irate Germans yelling at you will make sure you quickly learn to stay out of the dedicated bike lanes.
It was heavy but a featherweight compared to my 1946 and 1956 Singers. (The mint green one). I’m getting too old to get those out of the closet anymore, frankly. The Pfaff was an excellent machine but it was time.
I just traded my old Pfaff in this last weekend. It was the youngest of my machines.

It was made in West Germany 😁

A century ago? Heck, I remember this being said about Kennedy when he was elected in 1960. His being Catholic was a Big Deal.

The world seems like we are going backwards at the moment, so it is important to take the time to spread awareness of advances.

Scientists have developed an enzyme that converts organs into universal 'O' type. This is huge.

Scientists Changed the Blood Type of a Kidney. That’s Extraordinary.
Transforming organs from any blood type into the universal donor Type O could help patients receive transplants faster.

Beautiful. And I immediately know a painting is one of yours when it comes up on my feed.
My husband and I just got Covid for the first time. We are multiply vaxxed, fully “protected”. We wear N95’s in all public outings. Our error was believing when someone said “just allergies”.

It was not fun. Hubby tested + for over 3 weeks. Still coughing. We will try hard not to do that again!
Personal experience - I bought one of the new grey heavy duty Singers because repairing my 35 y.o. was expensive here in Seattle.

It broke after 32 days. YMMV but I would look into an older machine or inexpensive Brother. 2-500 is what I see as range for new ‘starter’ machines.
If you have access to a local sewing machine store, see if they have refurbished older models. If you can buy one from them it will have been checked over and perhaps have a guarantee. All you really need is a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch. I have also found Reddit searches helpful.
I hold the view that of course one must do the basic research but once requirements have been met, choices should be based on vibes. All the way. Our mind knows many things it can’t tell us directly and we are
foolish if we don’t listen to it.
We traveled to California from TX to look at colleges with my son. We laboriously found parking at started to tour a major CA university. Seven minutes in my son said “Nope” and he was DONE.

I’ve never known exactly what triggered that, but I knew not to fight it. We have instincts for a reason.
From the Holocaust Museum website :
The second one says copyright 1909.

Said goodbye to my machine today- while maybe still repairable, it’s a long drive to the shop and I was ready to trade it in. This was my ‘new’ machine, as compared to my 1946 and 1956 Singers.

“How new was it?” you ask?

“Let me check- ”

That is just awful. I’m so sorry.
Oh, so painfully. On the flip side our vegetables were never fresher, as we were always first at the farmers market.
Don’t forget horror. That genre is also dead to me.
I’m so sorry about your friend. We lost my mother in law and her brother to it. It’s a savage disease. 😢
Fresh, fresh little baby okra just steamed, served with coarse salt, is supreme. Serve it with little lady peas, summer tomatoes, and homemade biscuits with Mayhaw jelly and I am in heaven.

Now I need to go down South for a bit.
