Katica Dusanic died in a man's SRO room in 2021. Police were investigating the death as suspicious. Then, the coroner showed up, and swiftly declared the death an accidental overdose - a decision that pretty much shut down the police investigation. thetyee.ca/News/2025/07...

I had a video removed because I named a landlord who’d had multiple fires in his buildings, including one that caused a fatality. Super frustrating and another illustration of the age of censorship we’re living through.

TikTok doesn’t want the platform being used for journalism - even thought users expect to access it there.

Huh: TikTok took down my 8-second video featuring this image of Debbie Brockman — the news producer just detained by Trump’s CBP agents — saying it violates the “joy of TikTok”

Meh, it's been like this for awhile. There is just so much going on (COVID, rise of fascism, etc). We still have to do our jobs and report this stuff and think more carefully about what "impact" really means.

They did it to me during the election, but I’m not part of the legislature press gallery. Pretty sure the gallery would exert some pressure if they actually tried this.

When Canadian Press reporter Wolfgang Depner asked Rustad if he was paranoid, Rustad said no. While the scrum was still underway Rustad’s chief of staff, Brad Zubyk, called it a “bullshit question” and said the reporter would be barred from asking questions in the future. thetyee.ca/News/2025/10...

My breaking file on the province requiring a referendum to kill Vancouver's Park Board.

Sim is avoiding criticism of the province on this decision — but he was originally hopeful to get rid of the park board in six months.

But he lost political capital, and the province wasn't inclined to help.
B.C. government says Vancouver requires a referendum to eliminate its park board | CBC News
The B.C. government has put forward legislation that would only allow the City of Vancouver to eliminate its independently elected parks board if it is approved by local voters in a referendum.

Kinship agreements are commonly used to keep Indigenous kids out of the child welfare system and with family members.

But Julia's documentation was not recognized by a #DTES housing provider, contrary to BC Housing's own guidelines. thetyee.ca/News/2025/10...
