Metro Vancouver announced that the Vancouver Landfill will continue to serve the region until ~2050, without increasing the agreed area or height of the landfill. It was previously expected to close as early as 2030 and is currently located on the south west side of Burns Bog in Delta.

Adaptations after 4+ days of fog:

(1) I mentally refer to visibility in “blocks” and “half blocks”. These are, of course, Vancouver blocks (larger than downtown Portland blocks on both sides) and a horribly inconsistent measure.

(2) I watch for perched crows shaking dew off their tail feathers.

Last year Covenant House Vancouver served more than 160,000 meals to youth. The Drop-In Centre welcomed over 760 youth, the largest number in its history.
Youth have access to showers, laundry, clothes, mental health support, activities, and other services all thanks to CHV donors.
