The uncommon Amanita solitaria was a nice fungus to see in the beechwood at Fairburn today. There were a number of them to be seen and not all were solitary.

After seeing Rugosomyces ionides (Violet Domecap) in a beechwood on limestone at Fairburn yesterday, I decided to search the same type of habitat at Brockadale and there it was. This is a more attractive specimen than ones seen yesterday. #fungi

From Sunday, Brexit will deliver a big highly visible slap in the face. Hopefully that will bring it deservedly back into the news.
europeanmovement.co.uk
From Sunday, travelling into Europe gets tougher for Brits.

New EU border rules mean fingerprint scans, photo registration and longer queues.

This is the real-world cost of Brexit - more hassle, more red tape, more delays.

It is. Causes a root rot, resulting in the tree dying or being felled as unsafe, then it eats the remains of the tree.

A very good article. I think I read it at the time but have now re-read it. I use bits of the NDR paths but mainly as a means of getting out beyond Norwich. I rarely go to Taverham Garden Centre, because of the poor routes to it.

Former Head of Comms for the IEA, Annabel Denham, says the super rich will leave if we have a wealth tax.

Yes, the very same IEA that brought us Liz Truss’ disastrous mini budget. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Green Party leader Zack Polanski explains that their taxable assets can’t leave. #bbcqt

Sulphur Knight, Tricholoma sulphureum.

An old friend.

I love the colour and, perversely, its smell of coal gas.

In woodland near Reepham, Norfolk yesterday.

Cycle path signs by Norwich NDR for #FingerpostFriday.

But I wouldn't follow the suggested route to Fakenham, which would take cyclists along a busy 'A' road.

Had the amazing privilege earlier in the year to watch a lithographic limestone plate be made by one last plate makers in Germany. Each plate is cut and then hammered by hand into shape - and after having a go it's very skilled work. Currently they have no apprentices, so a truly dying art.

In spring 2021 we stayed in Seaford and looked for and found Anthophora retusa (Potter Flower Bee) at one of its last UK sites.

Far more than just the view. Seaford Head nature reserve provides a vital habitat for one of our rarest bees. The Potter Flower Bee nests by burrowing into the sandy soils on the clifftops and is only found at two other sites in the country

It’s always a joy to see a Stoat, even if only very briefly. This one bounced across a path at RSPB Greylake in the Somerset Levels this morning & I managed just a single photo before it disappeared into the vegetation.
