Honestly, it’s exhausting that people think Gazans should only ask for help to survive to eat, to stay alive but not to dream, to study, or to rebuild their lives. Wanting education, safety, and a future isn’t greed. It’s being human.

“I’m worried about my community… I’m out here in a frog costume to show how ridiculous the notion that we’re violent terrorists is, and showcase how that narrative is wrong…”

Serious Q: is it too late to give this dude the Nobel Peace Prize? 🐸 🏆

honestly fu** you if you think gazans are only allowed to ask for help to cover their very basic necessities when they’re starving or being killed, calling a gazan a grifter for trying to secure her education proves that you don’t see gazans as humans who deserve to live equally.

Wong’s disdainful response to Pocock when he raised this exact point demonstrates how far through the looking glass this govt is.

AKA more far right discourse and immigration fear mongering with a willing media facilitating.

💯 it’s a shame Hartcher seems immune from embarrassing himself. Full blown cringe.
jessielilley.bsky.social
Can’t tell if that’s sarcasm 😂 I assume he’d be very happy with this construct of a stoic, principled leader in waiting. It’s almost as though he scripted it.

The ageing fellas at the news desk have such a boner for a strong, young white man in politics they are going to will Hastie to the top of the pile whether we like it or not.
Opinion piece in the 9Papers:

Hastie's got the right stuff but one obsession may fast-track or derail his ambitions
By Peter Hartcher
October 11, 2025 - 5.00am
"The train coming down the tracks isn't the one that you expected. It's not the one advertised on the board," says actor Benedict Cumberbatch playing the role of a pro-Brexit strategist.
"Well, tough," he says. "It isn't even the one that I imagined. But I accept it. And you can't stop it," he says in the 2019 movie Brexit: The Uncivil War in the persona of the notorious Dominic Cummings, adviser to Boris Johnson.
"There is a new politics in town. One that you cannot control." Article extract:

As he read his charter letter from his leader, Sussan Ley, setting out his duties as opposition home affairs spokesman, he realised he would have no part in immigration policy - opposition immigration spokesman Paul Scarr, not Hastie, would "lead" and "develop" the policy. Hastie practised his personal policy of a
48-hour cooling off before making any major decision.
At this point, a more typical politician would accept the ruling, but then begin a quiet campaign of leaking and undermining against the leader. Hastie did not.
He was careful to take counsel with a handful of trusted allies, including only two Liberal MPs, so that he couldn't be accused of "doing the
numbers" as a prelude to a leadership challenge.
He told the most trusted of his trusted circle, his wife, Ruth, that he'd have to take a 25 per cent pay cut if he went ahead with the resignation. She rejoined that the family budget would simply have to adjust.

Trump’s war on Portland has potentially done a great service to the city’s tourism. I’m loving the vibe more and more with every video I see. The only drawback is that I’d have to enter the US to get there.

"...the NPC’s list of sponsors reveals the problem. Among them are no less than ten firms with links to the arms industry that is profiting from Israel’s destruction of Gaza, including four of the very largest defence manufacturers in the world – BAE, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and Thales."

New:
Censorship by any other name.
The National Press Club cancelled a speaker, Chris Hedges, who planned to address the mass killing of journalists in Gaza. The mainstream press didn’t report it.

My workplace has a social club. We go bowling. We don’t need corporate sponsors cos we all pay $5 once a fortnight
thewetmale.bsky.social
A lot of people in a lot of workplaces would partake in social sport to keep people that work together connected and appreciative of each other. Why the fuck does the federal parliament need corporate sponsorship to do this? (We all know why)

Imagine kicking the former national rugby captain out of your sports club instead of the gambling lobby.

To paraphrase Groucho Marx, who'd want to belong to a club that would accept Responsible Wagering Australia as one of its sponsors?

Australian newspapers are reporting only the ceasefire, not Israel’s violation of it. The bombing hasn’t stopped but that’s an inconvenient truth.

“A Sportsbet employee was among a small group of donors who attended the “boardroom dinner” with the minister for regional development, Kristy McBain, on Tuesday night. The dinner was organised by Labor’s fundraising vehicle.”

All they care about is being elected and staying in power.

NEW: Palestinians moving back towards Gaza City are being fired upon.

Israeli forces say the ceasefire does not exist until the government votes for it.

At least 8 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since dawn.
