okay here's a thread of some of my favorite pieces from the last 4-5 years (presented in no particular order):
digital painting of Gene Kelly in Singin' In The Rain (1952) digital painting of Kong (Andy Serkis) and Ann (Naomi Watts) in King Kong (2005) digital painting of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince.

Text superimposed on the planet the prince is sitting on says "What is essential is invisible to the eye" Finn and Jake's treehouse from the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time

Will & Grace is such an interesting show, because the supporting characters of Jack and Karen are SO much more entertaining than the titular pair. Like, the show is really uneven because of that difference.

My favorite Struzen poster is probably the one he did for the 1997 re-release of the original Star Wars film.

I love the color palette he used, and the way some of the ships are popping out of the inner "frame." The whole thing conveys the optimism and imagination of Lucas's film so well.
1997 theatrical poster for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope by Drew Struzan

The poster features the likenesses of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Obi-Wan Kenobi against a nebula-like background with multiple starships flying out of it. The color palette uses lots of dusky oranges and bright golds, and is reminiscent of a sunset.

IDK, imagine thinking that you could "save" God

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

Taking a swipe at the white gamer bros who support the Republican party is an interesting choice.

But, while we're here, Medicaid is intened for people who CAN'T AFFORD PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE. What you do, or don't do, SHOULDN'T MATTER when it comes to getting health care.
atrupar.com
Mike Johnson says Medicaid is "intended for vulnerable populations, the elderly, disabled, and young pregnant women, and not young able-bodied men without dependents who are playing video games."

I think this problem has affected Disney more than any of the other studios, because their streaming service is tied so explicitly to their brand.
jjr222.bsky.social
Also: this is just a theory, but I think Disney has undermined themselves with DisneyPlus. I think that a lot of people just don't feel the urgency to see something like this in theaters when they know it will be streaming for no additional fee in a few months.

1. Disney really didn't market this a ton.
2. A lot of fans wanted an actual continuation of Tron: Legacy and lost interest when they realized this wasn't one.

This is a nothing burger of an article (and yes--I read it) that fails to reckon with the intrinsic violence in Fuentes's groyper movement.

You should be ashamed of publishing what is essentially a puff piece for a fascist.

It could be? I don't know enough about the industry and how that might impact her career choices.

I assumed it was loyalty to the company that gave her her big break, along with possibly some fear of branching out and taking creative risks. 🤷‍♂️
