Also? Getting comfortable enough with failure that failure no longer crushes you is like a basic survival skill if you’re hypersensitive/have anxiety, and the only way to do that is to just go ahead and fail repeatedly

people don’t realize that there are things that they need to practice to get better at them

they think it should be easy so they keep just trying occasionally and then deciding it’s not for them

Is this just a U.S. thing? I thought this was a white people thing... like something I have heard Canadians and Brits do too?

Y'all are so beautiful. May you have many happy anniversaries to come. Thanks for bringing joy to the timeline.

@jmsptts.bsky.social Hey Jamie, I don't Janna is on here,... but this seems like work that intersects her "agency under/despite duress" themes and even if she is not interested she might know people she would want to recommend this program to... can you pass it along?

As the call outlines, the BCDSS are specifically seeking research proposals "that develop and critically reflect on specific methodological approaches to the study of Strong Asymmetrical Dependencies".

If (as a parish I used to attend) we are going to parade behind a monstrance for the feast of corpus christi through the parish...

then an ICE detention facility is one place where the presence of Christ (specifically Christ whose mortal flesh suffered detention and abuse) should be visible!

I would like to commend this as *the best ever use of a monstrance*

Outside of the Broadview ICE facility, a state trooper tells the delegation attempting to have communion with detainees that ICE has denied their request.

I would like a playlist based on your thoughts in this thread.

I mean I have a lot of sympathy for that use, even if I would encourage it.

The stuff I have read about HR practices makes me think about 75% of the time it’s a bot who is your first reader on the other end too.

Just me and my spreadsheets and invoices, have a good weep occasionally.

Since 1993, MA has not required librarians in elementary schools.

Really needs to be changed.

Mistype in there?

Accountability is the alternative to BOTH punishment and impunity/inequitable “accountability”?

Or am I misreading…

Reminder than in the Worcester budget, the Library is not even 1% of the spend.

We've fallen to about .74%.

I'd love it if you emailed your Councilor *and* the City Manager to ask that the library budget be bumped up.

Staffing. Programs. Collections. New tech. We can do more with more.

If you scroll down you’ll see I discussed this with Gabrielle Hecht.

Best practices, I agree with you.

I think what I described is “functional“ not optimal, I still think an author doing their own alt text is best and that they are the best person to articulate what including the image means/adds

of anything that tries to tear down “entry level“ activism

Just because some people never take it further

Because as long as some people do

NO KINGS is doing the work.

And the leadership (at least here) has been trustworthy and not merely seeking self-aggrandizement or purity of reputation
