Our high school football team, man, I just don't know. They're 0-7, have lost 6 games by 30+ points, and are losing 42-0 at halftime tonight. On homecoming night, they were losing 14-0 after 20 seconds (I'm still not quite sure how). They lost that game 62-0.

I get the fear of trading an ace-level pitcher. But I also believe that they are at a precipice and will have to take a risk to get over that precipice. Since they're unlikely to spend money, trading a SP is that path.

The one that makes sense to me is Greene for Brent Rooker. The money kinda balances out. The deal addresses major problems for each team. The downside for the Reds is Rooker is a little older. For the A's, Greene has only topped 130 IP once.

Will it happen? Doubtful.

But it's no fun to always say, "they'll screw it up" when talking about what the team should do. Maybe they'll screw it up, but that doesn't mean there isn't a path for them to not screw it up. I'd rather talk about those.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but I will be pissed if they trade him for prospects. I think trading a pitcher for a significant bat is their best move, and if that pitcher is Greene, so be it.

Sure, but they're in a specific window right now where Kyle Schwarber helps them right now and is available right now. I want any player that can sock dingers at a high rate.
