🪫 Seems to be popular but only 4 bikes available since this afternoon. Many bikes at docks but batteries are flat… obviously early days but prospective users getting disappointed & can’t be relied upon yet.

Witnesses sought after cyclist attacked on Blackhall Cycle Path

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a cyclist was seriously assaulted on Blackhall Cycle Path, near to Davidson Mains, Edinburgh. The incident took place around 6.05pm on Tuesday, 2 September, 2025. The cyclist, a 46-year-old man, was cycling away from the Drylaw area on his green vintage-style Dutch bike. The suspect was riding an offroad dirt bike and is described as white, around 5ft 10 and slim build, but their gender is unknown.

Overview

In September 2023, we asked people to give us their views on building a new primary and nursery school within the Builyeon Road development site in Queensferry. People were in favour of a new school and the prefered option was approved by Councillors in February 2024. Both the original consultation paper and the outcomes report can be found in links in the Related Documents section below.

Alongside the new school proposals we are working to create more travel options for your daily trips to school and work as well as other trips in your local community. In summer 2022, we asked for your opinions on an early design for a new walking, wheeling and cycling route from Builyeon Road to Scotstoun Avenue. Your feedback helped us to further develop our designs for active travel, including more detail on the proposed park on Builyeon Road.

An information event displaying the latest plans for the proposed school, active travel route and park with an opportunity to discuss these with representatives from the designers and the City of Edinburgh Council.

This is a drop-in event, held at Echline Primary School and the public can attend at any time between 1600 and 1930.

Used today which was great. Agree the slightly passive aggressive speed signs are bizarre. Just say “slow farm traffic” rather than singling out cycles 🙄

But you could go along Russell Rd as no bridge will be provided over the mainline railway if headed north/south. Plenty of room for segregation along Russell Rd. NCN 1 should be along CCWEL so no need to access Balbirnie Pl unless destination is a house there?

Old Craighall Gate to Dalkeith Country Park is now open for walking, wheeling and cycling! If you use this gate please stick to the 10mph speed limit though I know the thrill seekers among you may wish to go faster on the gravel hills (I didn’t, on this bike…) - working farm and all that 🐴🐄🦙🐣

First screenshot is “simple” view and second is “detailed view”. From the detailed the train class is below the image of the train.
Also on Class 385 the 🚲 symbol on the front means bike space is second doorset of that carriage.

We're developing a seamlessly integrated cycle and rail network. We've installed more cycle parking at our stations so it's easier to securely leave your bike before catching the train, or you can take your bike with you. There's no additional charge to take your bike on our trains and for some journeys you’ll need to reserve a space in advance.

There are plenty of reasons to leave the car at home and take the bike instead – to keep fit, have fun, or do your bit for the environment. Combining a bike ride with train travel is a brilliant way to see the country or just to get about town.

The following is a guide to cycle space availability, including the number of spaces and if tandems or larger cycles such as cargo cycles can be carried, on our different types of trains across all our routes. Our helpful videos show how to safely board and stow your cycle during your journey.

When travelling with your cycle please look for the dedicated wide aisle gate in stations with gateline barriers installed. The other gates will be too narrow for your cycle.
