So this is what was going on this morning. Union Canal path between Redhall Park turnoff and Kingsknowe Station will be closed each day for the next couple of weeks from 8am - 4.30pm. Cutting back ash trees. Diversion in place. No notice of this in advance 👎🏼 @spokes.org.uk @sw20.info @edi.bike

Some might ask why the out of town retails got the planning approval in the first place despite supposedly having local development plans with town-centre-first policies 👀

🚆 Get the Highlands on Track 🚆
The Highlands has waited long enough. Our only rail link to the Central Belt is still mostly single-track, diesel-powered, and stuck in the past. Meanwhile, the Government is ready to pour billions into roads while breaking its promises on rail.

Hi @jackrmcaldwell.bsky.social - any update on the works restarting? And please can bollards be installed to protect the pedestrian area and cycle lane as part of this project? The parking is getting worse by the day. @spokes.org.uk @edi.bike

Disappointing when several groups (us, @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social @spokes.org.uk @leithcentralcc.bsky.social etc etc) all pushed for a better design, to find the revised layout still needs tweaks to sort it.

A bicycle is posed on a wet set of concrete steps; it is almost entirely encrusted with barnacles. Another, non-dredged-up bicycle leans against a step in the background.

Cycled from Gorgie to Hermiston Gait today and I reckon 90% of the distance was on cycle or shared paths. Quite impressed really.
