Signs of a new pub for #Porty. "Dougal's - an old man pub for all ages' it says in the window. This has previously been 'The Beaten Docket', which closed at the end of 2023.

I need at least 3 more folk to sign up for my Edinburgh Adult Education Programme archaeology classes at Craigentinny, or the course will be cancelled. If you know anyone who might be interested, please let them know. Thank you!

As a former South Morningside parent I'm really proud of the girls football team for winning an Edinburgh-wide tournament but even prouder that they stood up for themselves when presented with a tiny trophy in stark contrast to the one awarded to the winning boys

The cup paled into comparison to the grand old trophy presented to the winning boys football team.

Edinburgh LS have long since gone rogue. Continuous footways (with or without cycle tracks) done well is more complex than some would realise (because there are network-level issues) and we don't have UK guidance (yet).

However, too many folks concentrate on what they are against, but won't

📣 Parents. If cars make your walk or cycle to school feel unsafe, that's not okay.

Take action!

📷 We need your photos of the school run. The more people see how unsafe and unhealthy it is for our children - the more power we have.

DM your #schoolrun photos or tag us in a post. #streetsforkids

Given the recent announcements about the A9 dualling, I had a quick dig to see if a revised Outline Business Case had been published. Nothing recent that I can see, but I did spot a November 2023 version, released under an FoI request that I haven't seen before.

I have told this story before, but bringing it here. This street has footway parking on both sides which gives 1 metre of walking space beyond the lines. But, if drivers obey the markings, you can't get a car up the middle. Because residents kept getting tickets, I was asked to look at it. 1/n

Living Streets seem very happy to cite Council policy when it comes to pavement widths, but ignore that other policies call for implementing safe routes for cyclists as part of the road layout - in Dundee Street and elsewhere.

As with all NIMBY groups, they only offer criticism, not solutions.
Edinburgh Evening News features Living Streets Edinburgh Group's concerns about the reduction in space for walking and wheeling in the Fountainbridge/Dundee Street active travel scheme. Click on the link to read the full story:- tinyurl.com/fountainbridge
Walking campaign says Fountainbridge active travel plans don't put pedestrians first
