The difference between how this officer speaks to the cyclist, versus how he speaks to the driver is unacceptable.

Feels like a silver lining to all this that the surreal situation in Portland has caused grifter frauds like Andy Ngo to become so desperate they write inane drivel like this.

And bro, Wall Of Moms wasn’t fake! My wife and her friends were in it! 😁🤣

Now that the local and national press have started to cover the Portland ICE area round-the-clock in reaction to the President, Antifa have devised a plan where they are encouraging one another to come in animal costumes.

The costumes serve the function of masking the violent extremism to make the direct action appear like a family-friendly gathering on camera, and to whitewash the past ultraviolence.

In 2019, Antifa devised a similar plot by giving out free "milkshakes" at a protest. But they couldn't contain their bloodthirst and nearly killed me when they saw me. In 2020, they mobilized a fake "Wall of Moms" where female Antifa supporters and members wore yellow shirts to act as human body shields while violent rioters behind them hurled projectile weapons.

Yes it sucks that some people don’t comment in the most productive way. And I’ve heard those criticisms. But it’s a fine line and a tricky thing to fix. My goal isn’t perfection tho, and I think some discomfort is ok and sometimes good for us.

Hi. I've never even considered getting rid of the BP comment section. I hear you about some commenters leaving a lot of them. Thanks for the feedback, but one thing is that I get to decide who's a "right wing troll" and I often disagree about who deserves that label.

I believe the video highlights a pervasive cultural bias that favors drivers and is skeptical of bicycle riders, and it shows how that bias plays out in some police-cyclist interactions.

"My suggestion would be to use the bike lane... you easily could have moved over and prevented that hostile situation... you guys are both ignorant, you guys both instigated each other." - PPB Officer Kyle Williams to a @bikeleague.org certified cycling instructor

Learning from bodycam footage of police response to road rage collision
One example of the pervasive cultural bias that favors drivers and is skeptical of bicycle riders.

yes that too! I just find that projection is a really helpful tool for understanding people. Thanks for the link.
jonathanmaus.bsky.social
So much of what Trump and his cronies say that their enemies are doing is just projection… So the fact that they’re latest line of attack is that Portland/Oregon is “covering up terrorism” is a real tell.

Portland is so full of brilliant bike people. At Bike Happy Hour last night, John Fortes (John the Johnster on socials) showed me his amazing, articulating front light that he designed, 3D printed, and built himself!

Which also underscores the connection between those outlets and politicians / political agendas and exposes the absurdity of calling them “independent media”.

Hmmm where have I been seeing Cheerful Tortoise and Bison Coffeehouse pop up a lot in the last several years? Oh yeah, on PDX Real. It’s obvious WH tapped local right wing influencers for sources.

such a huge W for our city. They're even allowing a bunch of locations within Forest Park, like along Germantown Road and off various fire lanes!
bikeportland.org
This is a big deal because public space only works if the public shows up, and having food trucks and other types of vendors at parks will encourage people not only to visit, but to stay there and hang out a while.

New city program makes vending at parks easier and cheaper

Met this kid at Sunday Parkways 13 years ago. Such a cool bike he made! Wonder what he's doing these days?

If NPR is trying to normalize Trump as just some regular politician with bold policy views - instead of the unhinged wanna be dictator he is - they are doing a very good job.

This is just one recent story where they give Trump benefit of the doubt & fail to give readers proper context.

Great news from Portland Parks. They've made it easier and cheaper for mobile vendors to set up at local parks!

Food trucks & other vendors make public spaces sticky & build community.

Hope this gives momentum to @councilorgreen.bsky.social hot dog ordinance. www.portland.gov/parks/news/2...

Partnering with parks and trail advocates on this one. Come out and learn about the Parks Levy and get inspired by the regional vision of a great parks system connected by trails and paths!

Parks, parks, parks, parks!

We need these amazing spaces now more than ever and there's a levy renewal on the ballot next month. Come out to Bike Happy Hour this week to get your questions answered, meet park advocates, and learn more.

PBOT made a first pass at cutting back vegetation w a maintenance truck. Volunteers with hand tools did the rest.

One of the event organizers believes this event should be a model of how city government works with community orgs in a time of tight budgets.

Doubt it. Bsky needs a ton more users and unfortunately too many folks have remained on X.

Shocking but not surprising how viral the idea of this ride went with just one little IG post!

Looks like Emergency World Naked Bike Ride will happen Sunday October 12th at 2:30 pm. Start location is TBD. Check WorldNakedBikeRidePortland on IG (if they haven't blocked you!) for updates.

Not only does this story get a number of basic facts wrong, it doesn’t take time to actually explore why Portlanders elected these folks. Coming in with a pre-baked PDX story to fit a NYT narrative about NYC is harmful, especially at this moment.

I also wonder what Anna Griffin thinks about this. She’s a former Oregonian reporter, OPB editor, and now is I think NYT PNW Bureau Chief

This sucks. Sorry Taylor. So frustrating.
