My struggle as a comic book writer is a simple one. I don't believe in broad strokes. Things are good because of the details. There are only a handful of plots/story beats. Variation comes from nuance. But @ 22 pages, details are the 1st to go.

4 images from comics I've written. Credits in thread.

This isn't my joke, I just read it somewhere on the internet but someone said about the Portland resistance...

"Support our Troupes!"

and it made me laugh.

Things are happening at Portland's ICE facility tonight.

As symbols of mass resistance go, a mob of Portland Frogs is just so vastly superior to those cringe-ass "V for Vendetta" masks.

LEFT: some schmuck
RIGHT: the righteous manifestation of the People's will
some schmuck in a black hoodie and a "V for Vendetta"/Guy Fawkes mask, who will someday be trying and failing to get laid by telling the story of his Black Bloc heroics our hero, the Portland Frog

The listening hour ends, going out on some truly beautiful metal from Japan for the soul... (from the band Asunojokei)

Shout out to the new release from Agriculture, "The Spiritual Sound, for inspiring me to spend my night listening to post/black/gaze metal.

Holy fuck. Just spun this album for the first time tonight. Then I came to see if there was a video for this song and... holy fuck. This vibe really struck me hard. Gonna be in a black gaze, post-metal hole for a bit.

If you need any further evidence that corporations thrive better under authoritarianism than democracy, here it is.

I generally still mask, and honestly, for the most part, people have started to totally ignore it.
erinbiba.bsky.social
It’s interesting being the only person masking anymore because I’ve essentially taken my invisible disability and made it visible. So people all stare at me and whisper to each other. I now experience the world as a visibly disabled person and it’s informative.

My strategy is direct eye contact LOL

Nice. I mean, other than this, the game has been amazing. Tops Silksong for game of the year as far as I'm concerned.

George Soros is funding the purchase of thousands of inflatable animal costumes! This menace must be stopped.
joshuadysart.bsky.social
That would be awesome!! Thank you!!
joshuadysart.bsky.social
I think it is because I made it past this boss several times without issue when I had fewer unlocks. But even if I could figure it out, I'd be discouraged. The game lets you play the way you like. That’s the joy of it. I don't want to adapt to a bug. I'm close to moving on from the game forever.
joshuadysart.bsky.social
Thanks, Danny! Honestly, the only place I see people talking about this bug is on the Steam forums. But the whole fight is buggy for me and it's a huge bummer to be doing an amazing run and then just get stuck here and not be able to move forward. Hope you're well!!
joshuadysart.bsky.social
Honestly, Portland is figuring it out. This is exactly the kind of imagery that makes fascists look like fucking tools.
joshuadysart.bsky.social
Hey @supergiantgames.bsky.social This bug, or some variation of it during the Scylla fight, is now happening every single time I play and I'm over it. It's really a bummer that such a good game is marred by a single boss fight bug, but it makes the game impossible and frustrating. Thoughts?
joshuadysart.bsky.social
Hah. Just hit a shitty bug fighting Siren Band. The bandmates die, but Scylla stops taking damage. Hit animations triggered, cycles through her attacks, but HP bar frozen. I've done this fight a lot. Hasn't happened before. Got to hear the song for 20m of evading attacks/blowing up the flying fish.

Constantly impressed by how fun HADES II is. The way they meter out the story so that every single run seems to throw something fresh, interesting, fun, or funny at you is really awesome.

Why do all these venerated interview people suck so bad at given interviews?

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Trouble Every Day (2001) Dir- Claire Denis

Holy fuck. So intense. Libido horror made even more shocking by the dreamy solemn disaffection of Denis’s filmmaking style. A nightmarishly beautiful, sad, strange, disturbing piece of genre filmmaking. Béatrice Dalle gives an all-time horror performance.

Losing my mind and what look like video game assets but instead were used to justify war crimes and genocide in the real world
NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites

The style is unmistakable: satellite zoom-ins, black & white wireframes, and red-textured houses - a new visual language of war.Our analysis of 43 official IDF videos found recycled 3D environments, spatial inaccuracies, and assets lifted from unrelated artists and institutions. We traced over 30 unique assets to Washington-based 3D creator Ian Hubert, who makes bespoke models created for his sci-fi project Dynamo Dream, available to his Patreon subscribers.

Models of parking lots, antennas, + pipes were repurposed as Hamas and Iranian military sites @evanhill

Fascinating work here tracing how the IDF recycled 3D assets from a cyberpunk sci-fi art project, the Scottish Maritime Museum and elsewhere to populate its widely-seen models of supposed enemy locations in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. One of the most infamous, the alleged underground Hamas command center at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, used to justify an unprecedented assault on the biggest medical center in Gaza, was actually an animation the IDF had used the previous year, saying at the time it was a tunnel beneath a UN school.
