Revisiting Innocent Blood. Been awhile. Had forgotten what an absolutely stacked cast this movie has.
Rewatch of Horror of Dracula and always love the titles being the exact right shade of red.
Dan-View theater with about fifteen other people and I still remember it because once the movie started doing its thing, we were all in for whatever the hell this was.
So our son is a freshman in college which is an hour and a half away. Headed up the mountain to check out him and his new friends play their first gig as a band. They go on at nine. Then it’s hugs, a “Hell yeah!” and back home.
Chuck Dixon is a piece of shit.
“My face ain’t hidden!”

“I’m American!”
She gets all the flowers. I mean ALL of them. If we see her, we immediately have to give her flowers.
Watching Pumpkinhead remembering the time Stan Winston mentored one of my students by phone and email for her Senior Project on makeup fx. I teach in NC.

She created fantastic zombie makeup used in a haunted house attraction.

So yeah, props to one of the masters.

Please remind us who the domestic terrorists are again.
First watch for M3GAN2.0. Makes rhe shift from sci-fi horror original to sci-fi action. Thematically uneven but I needed to relax and be entertained and it fit the bill.

Now on to something a little more highbrow and artsy with the existential musings of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.
I’d seen Layer Cake not too long before this was announced and I was so down for the choice.

Little did any of us know that we’d get what is arguably the best Bond movie right out the gate.

Also, a toast to Martin Campbell.
Daniel Craig was announced as the new James Bond 20 years ago today 👴🏼
You really should go check out this thread. And his pinned post. Wonderful.
English teacher here. Absolutely.

Kids, on the whole, stop reading on their own after elementary school.

We have great challenges to ensure some level of literacy and the continued use of the western canon hinders that challenge.

Accessible texts well taught make a huge difference in outcome.

Enjoy. It’s good stuff.
Rewatched after a looong time this past week. Has its flaws but entertaining with its own weird energy.
With my daughter eight years ago during Spirit Week. She was a freshman at the high school where I taught. Now getting her Masters in Occupational Therapy.
Chilly morning started off with coffee and finishing Black Hammer vol 1. An excellent first time read.

Now on @tcmtv.bsky.social, Tarzan the Fearless with Buster Crabbe. A 12 part serial edited for a feature release. Tarzan flicks are a niche pleasure so cinematic quality is secondary.
I had to break it up to a couple of watches to get through it. Daughter and I had been talking about it and she loved the movie. So it became one of those “will it reassess on a second viewing?”
Been thinking about a Midsommar rewatch. That’s quite the cinema gumbo you got there.
Rewatch of Paul Schrader’s Cat People from ‘82. Been forever since I’ve seen it. Let’s see how it hits a few decades later.
It really is so captivating. Great artist.
