Climate warming is not a recent phenomenon; it has had detectable impacts on plants for at least 134 years!

Yes, it is interesting to note Wallace's exceptional modesty, which may explain why the term 'Wallace-Darwin theory' is not commonly used (unlike Lotka-Volterra model, Janzen-Connell hypothesis, ...)

Chu et al. (urls.fr/Yeo6-K) estimate that cats kill ~60 million birds per year in Canada (possibly up to 197 M). Outdoor cats pose a serious risk to native birds. Potential responses include bylaws, education, social engagement, and trap-neuter-release programs. Think about it if you own a cat 🧪🌿🌎🦉🦊

Do you know that many palms are acaulescent (without stems)? The APALM database lists 216 acaulescent palms. They have rizomes (geophyte palms!) & thus are very resilient to disturbances. By da Silva et al.

Remember, when we talk about chemicals, the exact concentration or units are not the critical factor; what matters is their biological effect (eg, 0.02% cyanide in the air kills you in a few minutes!).

Clues for cooling our cities:
Urban trees, urban grasslands & urban crops cool cities in most environments (negative values), except in arid conditions where only trees are effective. Shrubs likely behave as trees, I guess.

On January 1st, I always like to go to a mountain and look at the horizon. It is like taking some perspective before facing the new year. Today, it was cloudy & cold, but we still enjoyed the walk & picknick.

"Bond’s work leaves behind an inconvenient lesson for an era of climate urgency: that speed is not a substitute for understanding, and that good intentions, applied without care, can erase ancient worlds as efficiently as neglect." A beautiful tribute to William Bond. Forever missed by many.

I don’t see the papers but occasionally see articles on this, e.g. this from Forbes

And this one which has a list of references

I’m sure it wouldn’t take much for tutors/supervisors to come up with a credible list of papers to share.
