1. This is hilarious and brilliant, bravo
2. The original meaning of "decimated" hasn't stuck because that meaning just isn't particularly useful anymore
3. The emotional horror of 1/10th of the people you work with being murdered makes the modern usage seem metaphorically valid to me

They need to get their ducks in a row. As I’ve said, it needs to be a cross-party decision. Even the last referendum wasn’t run on party political lines (though it’s easy to forget this considering what came after)

How do you see that working at the moment?

Just noticed this very nice new mural on the outside of the Broadway centre in Bradford, elegantly touching on the city’s past associations with the wool industry
The mural shows brightly coloured threads forming a weave, merging with grey industrial chimneys and their smoke

Would vegetarian tampons be ok?
Or do they need to be British beef or nothing?

This is not going to help them.

A 54 year old who calls himself "Kid" and who sports a stripper's hat and indoor shades....has no right to judge what is and is not "stupid."

Kid Rock: Do you know what is stupid… these chicks running around on campuses with blue hair, five nose rings.

Recognition that reality can now be publicly discussed?

Michelle Mone has raised shamelessness to an art form.

There was an offer of £23 million to avoid the £122m verdict against the company.

In law, Mr Barrowman looks like he has lots of hurdles and shields to avoid paying the ill gotten profits back. It should become a defining albatross for him

This is the confidential settlement offer Barrowman/Mone made to the Government, offering to settle the litigation for £23m.

(We'd never normally see this, but for unfathomable reasons, Mone posted it on X.)

Without the use of threat or intimidation, it is legitimate to consider the sustained recurring use of reputational stigma & shame - in the media + in society - designed to make it much more difficult to try to enjoy these ill gotten gains until and unless tens of millions of pounds are given up

Yes.
So it’s a massive job, that really *has to* succeed.
Everything must be in place to ensure it does - which may take some time.

Learning Greek has forced me to lean how to read and write again and, because I used to teach English, thats been a fascinating - and rather humbling - experience.

I want us back in, but I don’t kid myself we can achieve it just like that.

Also, we have to ask. The EU will be wanting enthusiastic cross party commitment, not a narrow vote. They won’t want us flouncing off again after a change of government.
Not to mention the need to accept the Euro - can you imagine how that would go down in the current ‘patriotic’ atmosphere ?

Yes, I read your article. It sounds brilliant!

This is why a single platform would help. In this case, she would only need to look briefly at the app, on her smartphone that she uses regularly.
juneussell.bsky.social
If there were just one app, it’d be fine. All council car parks where I live are JustPark, and that’s easy peasy, because all my info is loaded and I just press pay.
The private car parks are a random mess and I try not to use them.

Are you absolutely sure it would get the result we’d want?
No one expected 2016. The British public weren’t particularly interested in leaving, never mind keen to leave, before UKIP got their teeth into it. And they were a much smaller force than Reform is now.

How can you be so dismissive?
Nige is the only politician highlighting this important issue.
