Audax, underbiking & velomobiles. Occasional tallbiking. Genius who brought you SPD Crocs, inventor of the Meths Martini & no longer allowed unsupervised lab access. Upsetting in an oddly lingering kind of way.

This bollard was knocked down before & reinstated less than a year ago. Either drivers so incompetent that they can't stay off the pavement or doing it on purpose so they can drive on the pavement to the car park. Meanwhile I get a load of earache about cyclist entitlement & the cost of bike lanes.
Black bollard that has been crashed into and uprooted from pavement, bollard and loose broken paving stones lying on pavement. Former pub behind.

Spoiler, it definitely won't.

A Mayor who has just spent a £10m transport underspend elsewhere, on finishing the Northumberland Line railway, now wants to make it easier to drive, thus making the Northumberland Line less attractive.

¾ of a billion pounds to change a junction, that won't fix queues on the A189 and just moves the queues on the A19 to the next junction, which then needs fixing too, contributing to the enormous cost.
That's the cost of two and a bit Northumberland Lines (currently still not fully open).
A image from proposals for Moor Farm roundabout which show after the proposed changes there will still be queues on the south bound A189 and queues on the A19 will stretch from the A1 to Dudley Lane in the morning peak.

When public transport runs at 7mph but the Mayor wants to spend 3/4 billion on saving drivers a few seconds, you know what their real priorities are.

Always follow the money, not the press release.

Disappointed at this.

I thought the punchline was going to be, "...I'm 95% sure of which girl band it was, but can't remember which member. Maybe 75% sure. But definitely a girl band. I think. Probably. Look: Which of us hasn't had that kind of night out in Aberdeen after a shift on the rig? Eh?"

This is what happens when airlines employ former special forces pilots who are also Red Dwarf fans. Their radio comms to the tower are either:

“I’ve bingo fuel & I’m coming in hot!”

Or…

“Smoke me a kipper: I’ll be back in time for breakfast!”

So yes. I'll have a drink please. And if you're offering, I'll have two.

...for a review in which we'll tell the client about this, dealt with comms for a notaire in France who's selling a house the Inlaws had, and since it's Finance Week, I've re-profiled the budgets for a bunch of stuff I don't really understand. Oh, and DaughterOnSea had major surgery this week.

...and convinced that there was a £100 fine due (nope: "Just pay the £1.50 you owe please." Bless their little cotton socks!), transferred quite a large project plan into some proper software & spotted the terrible schedule slippage that was hiding in plain sight, put together board papers...

...wrestled with a messed up ERP implementation, been present and correct at Parents' 60th anniversary bash, got outbid on... and then second chance won an auction for a Flippin' M*ulton, failed to be in the right lane for the Humber Bridge tolls when collecting said Flippin' M*ulton...

In the last four weeks I have: Been royally screwed by a subcontractor (they think I don't know, but I do. I am now plotting Terrible Retribution), dealt with the tedious paperwork of three new projects and some rather alarming HSE discussions (permissions, not investigations),..

I think some of us can relate to this.

The replies are absolutely appalling. People blaming children because drivers can't do their job.

I have quite a long list of suspects for this one. Put simply, it could be any one of you lot.

The green cross code is the most disastrous public information campaign in history. It has made generations believe that pedestrians are responsible for avoiding crashes. Crashes are actually the responsibility of the operators of the massive motorised lumps of metal.

Made in Manchester: Emmeline Pankhurst (1858-1928), born in Moss Side, founded the suffragettes, yet ended as a Conservative. Historians argue about whether her militancy helped or hurt the women's suffrage movement. She certainly raised its profile. 1/8
