Also the sequel taught me how terrible it is to capitalize stuff like healthcare and security. Marie Lu's first trilogy is timeless and I need more people to talk about that.
Legend by Marie Lu

...ok here's the thing. I was very young and because the main characters were from different backgrounds, the story helped me realize some people have more privilege than others, and that usually the privilege is tied to their socioeconomic status.
Book is pretty based.

Hey, #Editors & #WritingCommunity! 👋🏻

I've topped up the scholarships for all my self-paced courses again!

There's a limited number of scholarship spots for editors and writers from marginalized groups.

They're first-come, first-serve, no questions asked.

I'm happy to hear that! I love stories that let the reader/audience think for themselves; it almost feels like a conversation.
When writers don't trust the reader and overexplain things. The reader can understand subtext and themes I promise. Media literacy isn't 100% dead.
4. What are your pet peeves when reading a book?
I have a lot of favorite authors.....but I have to say Marie Lu. I've been reading her work since I was a pre-teen and she introduced me to the beauty of double POV and nightmare sequences in books.
3. Who is your favorite author?

There are tools which will allow you to string a series of words together without thought or skill.

That doesn't make you a writer.

That makes you a plagiarist.

Generative AI is theft.

I have to say...romance maybe? I don't hate it but I read a lot of romance during high school, so now if I read a romance book it has to be a GOOD romance book. The characters and the relationship have to feel like crack.
2. What is your least favorite genre to read?

"I DON'T NEED YOU TO FUCKING REWRITE WHAT I'VE JUST WRITTEN!"
This looks fun, I'll do one question per day.

I'm someone who often jumps between genres, but right now I'm really into horror (specifically body horror and psychological). I love how horror removes the layers of the characters until only their true feelings remain.

10 games to get to know me!

Since I got a used pc and a used switch like 2 years ago, I've been able to play games myself. It has been fun! (I also got my old ps3 running, how cool is that)
I want on the record that the reason why dmc5 is not here is because I haven't play it myself yet...my computer is not powerful enough...BUT I know the game is fire and it will probably be my favorite dmc game once I play it.

The visual novel I'm beta reading got so personal so quickly like wow ok sure, thanks for the emotional punch
Do I need read the manga, I may need to read the manga.
I cannot stop thinking about this movie. It really made so it would pull the audience in, and let them sink with the story. Funny details becomes painful when looking back, and they don't leave you alone. Every painful beat resonates more than anyone would have imagined.

Truly cinema
Just came back from chainsaw man reze! Everything from the animation to the way the lines were delivered (I watched the dub since it was the only one available but it was SO GOOD) was incredible!

Fujimoto just keeps delivering heartbreaking bangers, what a guy. 10/10 I need denji to be happy.

Guillermo del Toro says “I’d rather die” than use generative AI

“My concern is not artificial intelligence, but natural stupidity. I think that's what drives most of the world's worst features”

Hitting a milestone as a queer fan of horror by going to a screening of Nosferatu with a live orchestra today! I learned a bit about the director in uni but it will be my first time watching the movie!

I wish publishing cared about kidlit for the sake of the kids! But if publishers only care about money (because capitalism), it's still just not smart to write off kidlit.

Publishers de-prioritizing children's books is just crappy, but it's also shortsighted financially:

1. Kidlit is recession-proof! Parents will always need to buy books for kids.

2. If you're not fostering the next generation of readers, then you won't have a consumer base 10-20 years from now.
