Happy 18th birthday to @thebugle.bsky.social! Day off, listened to Top Stories with Vanity Smurf, watched @alicefraser.bsky.social and @harikondabolu.bsky.social on the new ep. (go Team Bugle), and Alice again on Realms Unknown. Will get round to booking the livestream ticket soon.

It's very simple. If I don't want (for me and/or other workers) customers in before official opening time, I don't unlock the door. If we are open by choice, we are open.
keithcowans.bsky.social
I own/manage a store in retail. If our door is open, it means we are open, irrespective of the time. We view people as being welcome, not things to be 'dealt with'.

Yes, though numbers are more transient. I still remember the first home number we had from a house we moved out of when I was 11. I have a new mobile and haven't the faintest idea of what the number is (yet) without looking it up.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Sharing as I lose track of where to find these tracks. And because more people should see them.

After 60 minutes and finally going behind apparently. We'll that that.

Anyone know what time Scotland start playing?

Definitely @levparikian.bsky.social updated thread from my timeline this morning, and this post then became a thing again.
keithcowans.bsky.social
I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked. Never saw this coming.

Though I read a lot, I'm no expert and know the first two of these three claims are bullshit as detailed by @alanbeattie.bsky.social. The author is either extremely bad at basic facts/research or a straight-forward liar. Either way the book is not worth spending any time on.
alanbeattie.bsky.social
OK, let's take this seriously. I had an odd half an hour and via Apple Books had a quick look at the three claims I knew most about - two re the post-Brexit bilateral preferential trade agreements replicated from the EU versions and one about cheaper bananas. All are wrong or wildly implausible. 1/n

Looking at that list I hope Specsavers are feeling very foolish.

*insert joke about helping MPs find their remaining support*

First bandcamp friday of the evening is Autechre, before 'adding to basket' listen. Thinking, this track seems to be playing a while, then seeing the 58 minute runtime. Excellent album. #musicsky

Day off work, so by way of light relief I am starting on this series. Got the Patreon emails for part two.

🚨New episode out🚨 @iandunt.bsky.social and @dorianlynskey.bsky.social continue the socialism season with the big guy, Karl Marx.

“Philosophers have hitherto only interpreted the world in various ways,” Marx wrote. “The point is to change it.”

There are potential arguments for ID cards, to deal with migration (if that is your aim) certainly isn't one of them. Even if they worked, or were a priority as Zoe highlights.
zoejardiniere.bsky.social
Ok. They’ve pissed me off.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.
keithcowans.bsky.social
Are these the same sources who were making crap jokes earlier or different ones? How gullible do you have to be to believe this argument; that the bond markets factor in the currently thin chance of Burnham becoming an MP and shortly after leader into calculations on global investment markets?
keithcowans.bsky.social
Did your senior source have any comment to make as to why a govt with 400+ MPs is where it is in the polls, and however unlikely why there is increasing talk of a change? Or that they need to spend more which means taxes somewhere, any plans on that? Any vision, any strategy?
keithcowans.bsky.social
On old twitter I disagreed with Dan H on pretty much everything. The one thing he was good at was summarising party management & strategy. In the past that was criticising tories from BJ onward (possibly before).

Though what he says here is pretty obvious, it is right.
rolandmcs.bsky.social
I can't disagree with Dan here...
keithcowans.bsky.social
Reminds me of the old joke, three SWP people in a room forming two parties and a splinter group.

🚨 | Jeremy Corbyn has confirmed that the YourParty membership sign up link posted this morning by Zarah Sultana was unauthorised.

Over 20,000 people had already signed up, with the standard rate being £55 per annum. These are set to be cancelled.
keithcowans.bsky.social
I was referring to the issues in the post.
keithcowans.bsky.social
Well, hopefully he'll start trying to win.

I would add that said work account is not 'active'! Mainly for a few contacts & messages of late.
keithcowans.bsky.social
Still have my work account on x, I guess it's a ministerial account but it is there. Or I suspect his office is.
