😭 I love that. My sisters are still pretty disassociated from it all. But we all deal in our own way and in our own time. I just have to love a lot of my fam from afar. These shows and this community does so much for me it’s so silly but so true

I think Mary’s going to hold her accountable, and I feel like this is going to come up at the reunion because it’s been a few seasons now where she has physical reactions so they’re not just one off. It’s a pattern. And I hope she finds a path to healing

I hope Angie knows someone who can introduce her to somatic healing bc all the therapy and logic and self reflection in the world couldn’t shake my intense emotional reactions. Learning how physically release the tension from EMDR therapy has made an immense difference in my life and relationships.

I’m sorry you had to go through that. You didn’t deserve it. This all hits very close to home for me too. Narcissistic dad and alcoholic mom. Not discounting their own trauma but to be 43 now and see how they treated me at when they were that age still brings up a lot of anger.

Given the fact that her mom was an alcoholic who passed at a young age and her dad was working and raising so many kids… she probably just never learned the right way to manage heavy emotions.

I’m no shrink, but I’ve had similar issues with emotional reactivity. It’s typically a result of having parents who are emotionally unavailable and never teach you how to self-soothe (i.e. they punish you for having emotions, send you to your room or ignore you and don’t teach you tools you need)
