A judge has ruled that police officers can’t march at Pride – because “trans rights are human rights” is too political a statement for the police to associate themselves with, and breaches impartiality rules.

“[The judge’s ruling] seems to think the reality or legitimacy of trans existence is up for debate,” he told The Independent. “The difficulty of that is Parliament has said it is not up for debate. “The Equality Act recognises that trans people - like women and disabled people - are a group whose existence is not up for debate, it is to be protected.” He said: “This is yet another decision made by our courts which has a very profound affect on LGBT rights where a court has not thought it appropriate to hear from anyone from that community.”

🧵BAT SIGNAL 🦇🏳️‍🌈 A friend of mine has tried to book accommodation in Blackpool for her and her wife. Wilshaw Suites, Blackpool asked her to ‘confirm your relationship’ and told her they ‘don’t allow same sexes’

A message to my friend from the apartments saying ‘Please can you confirm your relationship. Thanks’

Another message reading ‘Sorry if this seems strict, but we need to ensure you and our other guests enjoy their stay with minimal disruption as we are a family establishment and normally only allow family who all live at the same address and don't allow same sexes.’

The cutting of the winter fuel payment was a terrible decision. Certainly not something I thought a supposed 'party of the people' would do. Since then, it has been successive policies and cuts that all seem to target the most vulnerable in our society. We needed change, not red Tories.
