I think it would be cool if you all signed this petition to try and convince Microsoft to extend Win10 security updates in the US with no strings attached, as they're already doing in the EU

I cannot stress this enough: Microsoft wants to harvest more of your data, and they are willing to condemn millions of otherwise perfectly capable computers to landfills because of it. Do not let them do it easily. Don't let them do it at all if you can.

The result of this is that millions upon millions of computers will become e-waste. Some may be recycled, but that implies knowledge of proper disposal, and proper handling after the fact. All of this because M$ wants more of your data. It will be an ecological disaster.

If your computer does not have a TPM 2.0 module (which is likely unless you've built or purchased it in the last 3-5 years,) you are ineligible for the Windows 11 upgrade.

There are workarounds, but average users are not going to know how to use them, and they could stop working anyway.

No matter if you end up switching to Linux or not, you shouldn't capitulate to Microsoft's demands to upgrade to Windows 11. It is spyware first and an operating system second, and it is only getting worse. This is all before even considering the ecological impact of Windows 10's impending EOL.
