I’ll wear an N95 sometimes just cuz it sucks way less to mask on transit, etc than to get sick before a holiday I’ve waited for a year for! And it’s totally no one’s business.

Someone asked once and I looked them dead in the eye and said maybe my mother has cancer and they slinked off.

Masking was a blessing during January and February when I lived in Ottawa omg like I know I could unmask outdoors but sorry - the wind that’s like ice daggers is honestly gonna kill me as much as Covid

Oh totally! Like people forget public health means treating the population, and like if one was introducing a drug to a person - how well a therapy is tolerated and how that affects the patient actually taking it vs the benefits is an important consideration!

Which is very distinct from perpetual universal masking! This is basically just the Asian pre-COVID way where people did wear masks esp when sick or tbh, were just cold lol

I really don’t think many Americans realize what another distinct country that’s not the US means?? I even find it annoying when Americans just leap to “I’m moving to Canada and claiming asylum” like um - you do realize we are a real country and not just your plan B?

you can also reuse N95s (not infinitely) but for like these purposes, it’s not like you’re going through 3 a day!

Though ngl, I do wish some people who are sick and hacking away grossly on the bus did wear a mask lol

Though that also sounds like a post hoc justification of finding growth impossible! Like I’d love to find the person in a growing mainline church while arguing that it’s irrelevant and lacking integrity! It’s the only way I’m considering this argument at all.

Maybe the less charged analogy is thinking about “quantity vs quality” and well, we should care about both!
