Every time a cop walked by (making sure we stayed off the street) here in suburban Philadelphia, we thanked him for being there.

What was more unusual today was the apparent lack of smart-ass kids who kept cruising past us last time, taunting. Drivers were either honkingly enthusiastic or neutral.
My favorite sign from the #NoKings protest in Havertown, Pennsylvania: "This isn't about politics, this is about humanity"

And oh, the humanity who were there!

I have always loved @propublica.org's mission statement. It speaks to method as much as mission, and does not shrink from describling their journalism as a moral undertaking. www.propublica.org/about/

I hope the sale went well for you. It continues to be my favorite event for HPS/MAG. Your Ceanothus made the journey home safely, and as soon as I stop scrolling through your website I will go out and get it in the ground! Thanks for being there.
@mrjamesob.bsky.social A good question for Mystery Hour today would have been "What happened to last week's podcast?" [The 3rd hour isn't on the full show, either. I wanted to listen more closely to your bird sounds. Were they from the Merlin app?]

I try to share links to our stories with the most striking passage or quote, but this piece has far too many to do that. It's also hard to say what speaks louder: the photos or photographer Adriana Loureiro Fernández's words. Beautiful. Haunting. Make the time: www.propublica.org/article/ceco...
What I Witnessed as I Photographed the Disappearances and the Homecomings of My Countrymen
Over the past four months, a photojournalist documented the lives of five families whose sons had been imprisoned in El Salvador, including their long-awaited reunions. CECOT left a mark on the men, t...

With a little kerning, it could be EMS NOW.
Actually, Dave, the idiots who couldn’t be bothered to vote or pay any attention to current events or life outside their own little bubble “voted” for this. Some of us fought like hell and lost to ennui
I swear it definitely helped during lockdown
Agreed.

Yo, Allentown, Easton, and the rural areas around them!
This is Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA). If he votes for this bill,
26,352 of his constituents would lose access to their healthcare.
40,011 of his constituents could lose access to their food assistance.
573 energy jobs in his district could be lost.
Yo, Bucks County!
This is Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). If he votes for this bill,

This bill is a Monstrosity.

It’s indefensible to cut the Healthcare and SNAP for Americans to give Tax Cuts to Billionaires and Big Business.

Mr. Fetterman, it's really this simple: you're receiving $174,000 a year for a position to which you were elected after asking people to trust that you'd be an unwavering champion for working class families.

I don't give a fuck that you missed your beach trip. Stop whining and get back to work.

They do this cause they know the bill is terrible for their states & districts. So they post a tweet opposing it, then fold right after. That way, come election time, they can claim they “fought it.”

99% of the time, that fight was complete BS.
There is nothing like a power outage to turn conversation to the really important things, like how long milk will last in an unopened refrigerator

I'm so grateful for @gelliottmorris.com's new project.

Americans aren't learning that Trump is cutting their healthcare.

My Saturday PSA:

Joe Biden isn’t the president anymore.

Instead, we’ve got a mentally deranged and ethically compromised old man with the nuclear codes trespassing in the Oval Office.

Stop talking about Joe Biden.

Start talking about the Convicted Felon, Donald Trump.

I KNOW, I KNOW: Many people are irate about all the articles coming out everywhere about Joe Biden this week—occasioned by the new book or his appearance on 'The View.'

Can I just say, though: This one is worth your time. It's warm and clear-eyed.

I Worked for Joe Biden. I Love Joe Biden. He Must Rethink His Post-Presidency.
I understand his desire to defend his legacy. But he needs to do it differently.

THREAD: We recently heard that the Trump administration was leaning on the government of Gambia to help Elon Musk. For weeks, our team made phone calls, wrote letters and knocked on folks’ doors to try to confirm it. But we were stuck.

So our reporters got on a plane to Banjul. 1/
Every time I go to the medical center, I am reminded, by text, that security has been increased and my belongings will be scanned on entry.

When I finally see the doc, they tell me, "we now use AI to help me take notes."

No heads-up on that? Yikes.
