I’m self-employed in Illinois, where at least Governor Pritzker is trying to get us help with insurance premiums. I ran an estimate on our premiums for next year and the cost was seven times higher than what we are currently paying.
Enrollment opens Nov. 1, so this is just an estimate. But also, there was only one insurance company to pull rates from, and their coverage didn’t include 1) all of my meds or 2) any of my care team. Just trying not to panic for now but FUCK.
Really hoping the "estimates" for 2026 Illinois health care premiums are massively inflated for whatever reason. My estimate for next year's premiums--with no changes to my family or income--was SEVEN TIMES HIGHER than what I'm paying now.
My first thought exactly.

I’ve already seen financial planners bemoaning the work that will have to be done to properly assess this tax, and I am unsympathetic. If you are wealthy enough to be affected by this tax, you should have to do a little work. I love this idea. prospect.org/2025/10/23/u...

Tell me again why we marched yesterday. We cannot let this continue.

Also, “50%” have “almost” used that? Boy, he really does love the uneducated.
Trump: "Don't forget I can use the Insurrection Act. 50% of the presidents almost have used that. And that's unquestioned power."

Today’s No Kings protest could be the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.

People have power.

somewhere in portland, there's one person, or a small handful of people, who came up with the inflatable costume idea, and I feel like they deserve our immense respect for defining the obvious developing aesthetic of the contemporary battle against fascism

The GOP called protestors "terrorists" and "Marxists" and that didn't stop retired moderates in small towns from coming out today dressed in frog costumes because they're tired of this obvious bullshit.

Two million more than in June. Seven million total.

The GOP should be very worried.

After a week of ridiculous Republican smears and Trump claiming that “very few people are going to be there,” you just made history. #NoKings

WOW! Protesters created a HUGE human sign on San Francisco’s Ocean Beach reading “No Kings YES on 50” to support California’s Prop 50 and stand up against Donald Trump’s fascist regime
Great crowd in Urbana today! #NoKings
Right? But maybe…it’s just sinking in…? I don’t know, it was all really weird.
And also more believable.
Fainted while driving??
Weird to say, but I think TRON: ARES is my favorite of the three? Definitely watch in IMAX if you can.
