This is "Boots & Polish" by Henry Silk which is undated but I suspect that it comes from c.1931-32. Henry was, by all accounts, almost a recluse, (his nephew, Elwin Hawthorne painted a picture of Henry with that title) so a lot of his work features "close-up" images like this. #HenrySilk

Had to clamber over a barbed wire fence, rip my coat and trespass to get a photo of this folkloric monster pretending half-successfully to be a tree. I have no regrets.

Bought another photo album, I couldn't resist.
But it's about my home town during the war and was put together with lots of love and talent, even staged photo scenes involving a police officer.
And it has the full names in it, so it's going to be fun researching.
Thread coming.

This is Iliamna. She made a new best friend, who happens to be a balloon. Really thought they would have more time together. 12/10 (TT: andreal.corbin)

When a Microsoft data center opened next to the small Mexican town of La Esperanza, locals say electricity outages and water shortages grew severe. The local doctor rushed patients a half hour to the nearest hospital when blackouts cut off his oxygen concentrator. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/20/t...
