Over 40% of corn grown in Indiana is used to make ethanol that cars burn. One acre of corn yields about 16,500 vehicle-miles per year of ethanol, which sounds high until you realize that one acre of solar yields about 2,700,000 vehicle-miles per year: 16,000% more driving for a given plot of land.

Some journalist needs to track down who is buying up all of these distressed properties. This is an old ploy of the large industrial farms, which can weather these shocks, to buy up smaller farms. But the small guys voted for their own destruction.

Rutgers TPUSA says they don't condone harassment of anyone who opposes them, but I hear from colleagues that people who signed the petition calling for them to be banned are receiving email threats to publicize their home addresses if they don't remove their name and apologize.
