The full cost of the BoM website has been known for some time — I reported it in September last year — so why would management not be honest about it? It’s a story of executives meeting the firm ‘Accidenture’. $96m later… www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/2025/11...
Inside the Bureau of Meteorology’s $96m website fiasco
Global IT consultancy Accenture has been accused of ‘strip mining’ the Bureau of Meteorology during its years-late delivery of a redesigned website not fit for purpose.

In fact, the project was so unchaotic that it was finished a full year ahead of plans.

Hi @australia.theguardian.com. I live near a new station, and my work was arm’s length from a soundbox at another under construction. The construction was annoying and frustrating, but not chaotic. There is no mention of the supposed “chaos” in the article either.

The Metro Tunnel will finally open after years of chaos – so what is the payoff for the Melbourne commuter?
With the West Gate Tunnel set to be complete within weeks, Labor hopes costs will be offset by commuter benefits before the next state election

#RioTinto are wrecking the planet, but they are LGBTIQifying their logo, so that’s nice.

QR table *service* is a really good way to filter out where not to eat.

Hey everyone, come to Melbourne city where the police will randomly* pat you* down for knives to make you feel safe… how appealing.

*srsly, we all know how unrandom the pat-downs will be.

some things should always be mysteries

Who would have guessed that the big private consultant companies’ fingers were all over the crappy and expensive #BOM website? It’s almost like there’s a pattern. #auspol #Accenture #Deloitte

Profoundly true and powerful article from @doctorvive.bsky.social

"Such a bloc will have no power if its leaders are not forced to resolve their ambivalence about phasing out fossil fuels"

And resolving "ambivalence" is what I meant in this post below five days ago

This is extraordinarily worrying as this anti science misinformation will harm/kill people, and forge further distrust in health institutions

It’s almost like they never wanted to do anything
“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.

As the US persistently focuses on itself, it increasingly feels like the rest of the world is moving on assuming a post-US future. #Trump

You don’t say, a survey by Live Nation found this? Any questions about whether Live Nation prices make you flaccid?

Paris Disagreement perhaps, but not the Paris Agreement

Bánh whoever came up with this shit

Magnificent

No, it means you should undertake a scientifically valid, independent investigation to test your hypothesis and produce rigorous evidence to support your stance.
