That’s kind of the annoying thing, it could have been explained away so easily. Like we as the audience could have seen him miss the call.

As it stands it feels made up on the spot.

One bizarre narrative hiccup so far in Digimon BeatBreak is the fact that Tomoro and Gekkomon have a bounty because they ran away and ignored a phone call that they… never actually received?

Them trying to explain the system after the fact and sorta contradict itself without explaining it is odd.
