Have never experienced the loss of taste and smell, or the sore throat. Such a weird illness.

Covid 1 - all over body rash
Covid 2 - fever, chills, extreme fatigue
Covid 3 - flu-like symptoms (sore skin, aches, congestion)
- Sore foot every time!
mairsrambles.bsky.social
Oh and something odd. I've had completely different symptoms the three times (I'm of aware at least) of having had Covid, except for a burning sensation on the top of my left foot, which has been the same every time!

National Trust members, you need to vote by 31 Oct to ensure that the reactionary Restore Trust candidates do not get onto the council to push their pernicious, anti-history, anti-scientific views. Note their candidates' names and avoid. www.restoretrust.org.uk

This is such a good point. I can't afford £100 for a covid booster. I could and would cheerfully pay £15 for one as I do flu. I also don't understand why so many aren't eligible for an NHS booster this year considering it didn't miraculously stop being covid over the summer

This makes me want to break things. If it's such a no-big (it actually is a big that fucking disabled me), and you're equating it to flu (again, not remotely like), then why aren't the prices comparable?

(They should be free but given that's not going to happen, well)

It’s dispiriting that this is what getting a COVID vaccination now looks like to this chronic asthmatic.
mairsrambles.bsky.social
And obviously, dangerous for people who do have vulnerabilities and health conditions. Can't believe the Government just expects us all to have this 2 or 3 times a year and go around spreading it 😡

- 7 days testing positive
- Much more like flu than a cold
- 4 days of bed rest
- Still fatigued & congested 4 days after testing negative
- Missed work
- Missed a gig
- Unable to do exercise essential for my mental wellbeing
- Hoping it won't have long-term effects, but who knows?!?

So, we were planning to get the expensive Covid vaccine (hugely privileged to be able to afford it, I know), but it got us both before we could. We have no underlying health conditions and it still absolutely sucks and is extremely disruptive.

After a long pause, I've just done another England Covid & NHS update as we head into the autumn/winter season.

TLDR: we're in a significant Covid wave now, the NHS is stretched, get boosted if you're eligible.

Our economy isn’t working. If we want a sustainable society, we need a new moral code for the economy.

In this video, I set out ten commandments for a just economy.

The 2024 Little Richard documentary, I Am Everything, is currently streaming on C4 in the UK. Ignore the usual talking heads who appear at the start as this is excellent. Particularly good on the "queer" subculture of the American South. youtu.be/4YC8WUrWtZY?...

For #IWD and #WomensHistoryMonth - the incredible Alison Neilans, who prevented sex between women being criminalised in England and Wales.
It was proposed in 1921, for cynical reasons, but would probably have become law without her prompt and effective response. (1/6)
Photographic portrait of Alison Neilans, in Edwardian blouse and neck bow, wearing pince nez, under the text "votes for women".
