For reference I’m literally going to the local HS track and jogging one lap, then a walk break, jog two laps, then a walk break, and repeating at increasing lap intervals. I am adding another lap every week. This week was eight laps and I was pretty gassed at the end.

I am mostly going by pace at this point, my zone five is a 9’50 pace and my zone 2 is about 13’30 (though measuring exertion is tough when your breathing/HR is okayish but your calves are exploding)

Thank you, I suspect strongly this is a combo of me leaning on muscles that aren’t as strong as they need to be and not warming them up properly. Even a little bunny hop cadence makes my calves burn and my femoris biceps ache after about five minutes. 😬😬😬

For distance running (which is what I’ve been working on for months) a sprint unfortunately isn’t sustainable or safe. I’m simply trying to ascertain if this is an endurance problem, a warm up problem, or a PT problem.

My assumption is that slower paces engage different muscle groups and some of mine are just weaker/tighter than other muscle groups and I need to build that

I have a weird running question: is it normal if a slower pace actually feels MORE physically uncomfortable than a faster one? I feel like when I slow down sometimes and try to control my pace I actually feel more achy and crampy than at a faster pace?
