My hottest reading take is that the special editions trend is one of the worst things to happen to the book industry

The second publishing figured out it's cheaper and more profitable to pay for art over editing is the day the true enshittification of books began.

The author community really needs to talk about how we are all so worried about art commissions, special editions, and audiobooks to the point that some writers are forgetting about the meat and potatoes of their business: writing damn good books.

A lot of the staff at the donor center is new to me and didn't immediately recognize me as a volunteer. They thought I was a donor.

Yet they seemed completely unbothered by the fact I went into the back office w/o asking????

Excuse you, I don't self insert when I read a book.

I do the PROPER thing:

creating an entirely separate self-insert character for my daydreams, and introduce so many new plot and world elements for that character until it's a completely different story.
